Looking at the different cultures in mylot. I'm pretty curious as to which languages can some people speak.. I learnt German for a semester in university, but gave up, switched to Japanese. I can also speak Cantonese and Chinese. What about you? Did you learn the language? Was it tough for you? Do share.

How do you make yourself proficient in languages? I find no place for me to practise what I have learnt and I gradually forget overtime...

If you are talking about sign language, I volunteer at a deaf center. I also am applied by the state as an official translator in the court system, so there is rarely a huge amount of time inbetween the times I need to speak in SL.

I am from India. India has three language formula. In India, it is compulsory for everyone one to learn three language. National language, Hindi. State language, which in my case is punjabi and International language, English. I know fourth language also i.e. sanskrit. Thus I know 4 languages, Hindi, punjabi, english, Sanskrit.
