Or does everyone think they are Bored Games?
I'm talking about Risk, Clue, Monopoly, Sorry!, Scrabble, Stratego, etc..Or even the electronic ones like Omega virus, Stop Thief!, or Dark Tower (worht a lot of money on ebay now).
Are they all dying out because of video games and PSP, Wii and the internet?
I sure hope not !!

We as a family sometimes have a family night where we would get down and play some board games, we sometimes go to my parents place and play there with other family memebers too, we love computers and the internet but nothing beats a family battle of the board games lol...some games we have and play are:
Deal or No Deal
Battle of the Sexes
Monopoly
Scrabble
Balderdash
Articulate
Minute Mime
And good old Card games like poker, black jack, under and overs, using the fab fake casino chips.
We also have a 2 Playstation2's and quite a lot of games, sometimes the girls will be on one playing each other of taking a quest in some adventure game, while hubby and i are on the other trying to get through Lord of the Rings LOL we finally conquered Primal well hubby did.
We even play downstairs playing Ping Pong and the girls love getting into it with us its challenging yet heaps of fun.
But all in all computers and playstation gaming here is in moderation, doing things as a family are way more important and way more fun!
Happy Gaming :)

Funny you should mention Dark Tower.
I used to play this alot back in the 80's when it came out. But then it sat on my shelf until the mid 90's. When I tried to play it then, the Tower itself malfuctioned and so there it sat until today. I got it out, took it apart. Couldn't get it to work. So then I oiled the motor, and it started working again! Woohoo! I LOVED this game! Now I'm just cleaning up the whole game and planning on playing it soon with some pals!
For those who don't know what it is, it's basically a sword & sorcery board game with an electronic Tower that sits in the middle telling you the moves you make. Very Dungeons & Dragons like. There's a great page about the game here:

Wikipedia has a write up on it too.
I guess they're kinda rare now.
A working one is going for $150-$300!

I love to still play Clue,Sorry,Life and Monopoly (old version). I noticed this year around Christmas a lot of the old games where back on the shelves even the Rock em Sock em Robots...lol I think they will make a come back or never go out because they get kids away from the online games and ps and xbox and now wii. I know serval families that will have family night and sit around a board game and play.

i love board games they were always a big part of my childhood and to this day i still play them and hope to carry on playing them with my children i love having friends over and playing a game of monopoly or at the moment our favorite is cranium everyone gets very competetive and its just so much fun i still own connect four and battle ships although i dont really play them that often as new games are so much more fun. i dont think that new video games can compete they are good but they are not my cup of tea i prefer to be with friends and playing board games allows me to do that.

About a week ago we played Monopoly here at our house! We have five children who range in age from 14 down to 6 months so I think we'll be playing those games for a long time! We don't play board games often but the kids really love it when we do.
