Oversease Taiwanese

Hi
Im an oversease Taiwanse , I hold Taiwanese passport, but Im still considered foreigner as I don't have Taiwanese ID card. I have never been to Taiwan before, and I was told that I must stay in Taiwan for about a year and half to get the ID card. I want to know if that is true , and how can I possibly get that card without staying that long in Taiwan.

Andygogo, I am ABC (American Born Chinese) my parents are from taiwan as well, but I grew overseas. Regarding your Question, I wanted to know if you have relatives in Taiwan, to State you are Descendant of Taiwan. If So, you won't even need to 1 week time to get TAIWAN ID. Or you should go check the nearest TAIWAN EMBASSY from whichever country you are from.
