A few days back I started a discussion - "Who is your life's first love?". I thank everyone who has replied to it but I am sorry to say that none of them knew who actually was their life's first love. All of them replied in form of a girl friend or boy friend.
Why I am writing this message is to make all of us realize that who actually is a person's first love.
Had any one asked this question to me a few month's back, I would also have replied in the same manner, but on May 5, 2006, my life changed. Some one very dear to me, my mother passed away.
Now when I see people missing their boy friends or girl friends on a rainy romantic day or a sunny morning, I feel that these people are totally unaware of the real fact. When they are missing their loved ones, I most probably am missing my mother.
When she used to drive me to school on stormy mornings or when I, my brother and my sister used to sit in our lawn with our mother and having lunch on a sunny afternoon.
When she used to cook me a separate dish as she knew that her son did not like the other dishes.
When she used to stand against all the world to protect her son.
When she used to go to the market to buy for me snacks in the burning summers of Lahore.
When she used to play with me.
When she used to call me by my nick name. Now I can just wish to hear my name in her voice.
For those who have not yet realized or who do not care for their mothers, this is just a reminder that mothers are someone you can never find again.. take care of them.
A person's first love is always his/her mother, and no doubt, my mother too was my life's first love.
