smacking a child RIGHT or WORNG?

i am only 18 with no children but i believe that to teach a bad child is to smack them because by doing this they know not to do this again but your not aloud to anymore and i think you can even get arrested for it nowadays. now you have to send the child to the stairs or something but i dont know if this is working better than the smacking, what do you think should you be able to smack your child for being naughty?

Yes, it is right to smack a child but as with all other things of life, it's also wise to have a limit, else it will have no effect on the child.

I don't believe in hitting a child when they are bad or act poorly however their is only 1 time in my childhood when I was smacked and I never repeated that mistake. I called my mother a b***h at about age 9 and she open handed me across the face I cried like a baby, but I never repeated my mistake.
