If you use your real picture, are you afraid...?

sometimes i wonder if I should change my picture and put a generic one because im afraid that somebody that knows me might see me on this site and confront me about my answers here or my topics. Im pretty open on some of my topics and i even started a topic about my friend and her cats. What if she ever came across this site and saw me post about her?
Do you feel the same?

Then why be honest if you are scared? Another picture, not unlike your own would suffice surely. So why take the risk?
If you are going to be honest, hold your head up and stay strong, you should fear no one.
If you are discovered have you been dishonest? Have you lied? Have your offended friends caught you out in lies? or are they the guilty ones?
I am what I am, and anyone who knows me...yes that's me on my profile, Bottom left.. Hot or Not...will have to deal with my answers as the truth and my opinions. To hell with them that cant.

i tend to be a little more open on the internet that in real life, and so sometimes i wonder if its better if i keep my anonimity to protect myself.

I do not put my photo anywhere on the internet because I like my privacy. LOL
Actually anyone who knows me knows really well will know my life story fairly well and I am honest in the responses I make so that isn't a concern really. However, there are other people who do not know me so well and there is a chance that they are also here on myLot. While they might speculate about certain things they cannot be sure that it is me, and I prefer to keep it that way. I am a little bit like you in that someone who knows me but is not a friend might see me and say something about one of my discussions or responses.
It is up to the individual of course what they do but for me, a little bit of mystery and privacy goes a long way. I would not confront anyone I knew personally or regognised from their photo, but not all people are the same. I can now see that you have change your avatar since you started this discussion and hope that you are happy with the one that you have now.

I am not afraid to use my real photo. I have never told a lie or done any things wrong in my life. There are some reason that I don't post my picture here, I think I am enough for life. I don't want to promote more or get negative points if they don't like,

as u can see i dont put my real picture. but it isnt because im afraid to be recognised, i dont type someting that is my secret. frankly, i would never think of that reason. my reason is not to get "friends" only because of my look. ok i dont mean im world miss but i dont need male friends on my list only for reason im a girl or someone likes my appearance.

Well, I think it is better not to use your real photo, if you have bad opinion about your your friends.

I think people should safeguard their privacy a little more. For instance, when I see people posting photos of their family, friends, sometimes their children, it makes me cringe. Today, it isn't very difficult for some ill-intentioned person to track someone down through the information people usually post. If you feel there's a valid reason not to post your photos, then don't.

I wouldn't be to concerned about posting your real picture online because all it tells people is what you look like. It's other personal details such as your name, address, phone number you should try to withhold from posting publicly on the internet.
If you're worried about someone recognizing you, I wouldn't worry. If someone recognizes you, its probably because they know you already, and so long as your postings aren't harmful to others, I don't think they'll care.

I afraid to use my real picture as avatar here and in internet as I am living in society and it may cause some harm to me when I am outing as I sometime discuss some question or post some is not discussable to outside than in mylot or internet.

when I first came here,I used other photo's,some of what I hoped for,and just to remain unknown, now,I have posted a real picture of myself, and hope that people may trust me more.
In your case, seeing a pretty woman always helps me stay on board.

I always post my generic photo but that is because i do not really care if someone in fact asked me about something that i posted. Although living in Canada there are almost 200 of us and only about 20 to 30 in my area and even that is three hours away from me. I can see your point though for sure and i can see why you do not want to post your generic photo and i agree that this is a very good reason to in fact do sooo!!!

As long as you don't say anything too negative and you allow the person to remain anonymous, I think its fine to make refrences to them, and if they do find out, just explain that to them, plus its the internet who else is really going to hold it against you.
