Does anyone really use the word thrice (for 3 times) ?
I never say thrice. I will say "3 times" instead of thrice. I saw a few people use the word thrice on here and notice they were all from India. I was just wondering how many people really use that word.

I don't understand what you are saying.
What is it you are trying to say by "don't bother"? Don't bother what?

what do you mean? It is not a mistake to use it. People will just look at you funny if you do.

Yeah, it's not my favorite word either. Do you have a favorite word? :)

My Grandmother still does and I do hear many other elderly people say it. They still do the country hillbilly talk around here. I am not sure poeple will ever be "proper" speaking here. LOL

I don't really use it much myself now that I notice it. Twice is so much more used when compared to this word, isn't it? I wonder what's the problem, maybe lack of use by most people? That must be it.

I always wondered that too. I think people would look at you funny if you used the word "thrice" in everyday speaking.

I've seen the word used, but never heard it in a casual conversation, nor have I ever used it. So basically I'd say I never use it.

Umm... I've used it when writing a piece where it seemed fitting... but I don't make it a regular part of my vocabulary ;)

No..and I have never really heard anyone else using it unless they are reciting poetry or a nursery rhyme.
I don't think I have seen it here in MYLOT but than again, I probably did and just didn't make anything of it.
I am usually reading nursery rhymes and children's stories to my 2 year old so I guess it just seems normal to me in a sense.

I don't use the word and I don't know anyone that uses it either. I think the only time I remembered seeing it was back in highschool in some assigned reading... I think Charles Dickens uses the word in his novels. The word seems a bit dated... I can only picture really old people using this word.

I personally don't use the word thrice, I don't even think I use twice in the place of two times.
I can't say I recall seeing anyone on this site use thrice, or even in real life. I think I've only heard it used on (American or Canadian) TV shows or movies and even then, another character will comment on the usage of the word
One example in particular I remember is an episode of The Golden Girls where Rose, the simple, naive ditz is writing a song and she uses the word thrice. Sardonic and sarcastic Dorothy questions who actually says that word and proclaims that it shouldn't be used in a song.
I actually found the clip of it! The "thrice" comments starts at 1:05

I don't think I've ever said "thrice" in conversation or anywhere else. I wonder if it's because things happen 2 times more often than 3 times (and once is really common). And after thrice, what's to stop there being a "quadrice" and "quintice"?

I have used it, but only when being goofy or spoofing shakespeare or something. It's not a regular part of my vocabulary. If I see it in writing, it doesn't strike me as odd, but it's something I never hear anyone say!!

Definitely not south of the USA, as three times is already difficult enough for our latinos.
