My 5 month old is a generally good baby. She tends to take a nap about 1-2 hours after she eats. I want her to like to be on the floor more. Every time I put her on the floor whether it is on her back or on her tummy, she lasts not even 5 minutes before she is crying. As soon as I pick her up she is fine. I want her to be on schedual with all the other babies her age. Her brother was the same way. Should I just do anything she wants or should I make her lay down on the floor until I can't take her crying anymore?

Some babies can feel too exposed lying on the floor. Do you have a play gym you can put over her to keep her occupied.
Also, she may have learnt to cry soon after, as she knows you are going to pick her up. Try lying next to her on the floor before picking her up.
Please don't though compare your babies development to other babies as they are all different.
My first spoke at nine months, my second at two years.
Make time on the floor an enjoyable experience if they like it, but maybe find a different approach if you see they are not enjoying themselves as it is good for their muscle development to have time to stretch out and kick freely.
Good luck!!!

My six month old did and sometimes still does the same thing.I just lay her down and sit by her with a toy for awhile. I just let her cry for alittle bit before she gets picked up. Sometimes she just stops on her own and plays with her toys.I put toys all around her for her to play with.
