Yup, Jem is my favorite cartoon of all-time. It came on in the 80s on CartoonUSA. I think it came on Sunday morning right before or after that show The Snorks. Back then there weren't dvds. I remember going to the video rental store with my mom, and renting a bunch of Jem episodes on vhs. Ahhh...good times. I sooo wish they'd reair Jem episodes. I bought a dvd set from an eBay seller, but to my horror the dvds skip TERRIBLY because the idiot sent me burnt copies of episodes on blank dvds...not the REAL thing! :(

ROTFL! I remember it! My younger sister LOVED it! I don't think I was ever really into it. Not as much as she was, anyway.

I remember Jem. I thought it was great. I wanted the holograms. It was a cute show and the music was pretty good too. Didn't last very long though did it? I only remember it being on a short time.

I really remember Jem because that was one of my favorite cartoons from the 80's. I'm an 80's child and I can remember watching this show a lot when I was younger. I thought the band she was always in competition with, The Misfits were terrible and seemed to look like witches.
I used to pretend that I wanted to be Jem and have her holographic earrings. I wanted to be dressed up like her and be up there performing her songs. I always thought she was so pretty and I loved the color of her hair. I also liked the little stars they had on their faces.
I remember the show as well dealt with a lot of issues that young people have had to deal with on a constant basis. I found that it had a deeper reasoning than just fashion and music, the cartoon actually had a social consciousness built within it, which seems to be lacking in the majority of animated programs today.
They are too centered on making fun of things and being negative as opposed to being pro-active and looking to make the youth of today feel good about themselves. They tend to focus on showing the youth of today howe to make themselves feel better by just insulting someone else instead of looking for real solutions to these problems.
I used to remember pretending I was Jem by touching my ear and all of a sudden I was her. I'd play the cassette tape of her album and I would sing along to it all the time thinking I was actually was her. I'd have so much fun no matter how silly I looked pretending to be Jem that when I see that cartoon on you tube or when I just think of the theme song, those memories come flooding back to me.
Upon looking back at it, I can see why I liked Jem so much when I was a child. I liked that they had a meaning behind each episode as opposed to many of the cartoons nowadays. Each one dealt with something that I could relate to or that I found important in life and it was crazy to see that a show that was made for kids had such a social consciousness. It's hard to even find many cartoons even back then in the 80's that really focused on such important issues. I think there were only a handful of other cartoons on television at the time that dealt with things that were really important to society.
Jem and the Holograms will always stick with me for the rest of my life because it was most likely one of my favorite 80's cartoons. It was one of my favorite shows because of how it had a deeper meaning to it than just a cartoon for kids., It was about more than just keeping kids focused on the t.v. for a half an hour, it wanted to actually teach them something valuable at the same time.
In conclusion, I really find upon looking back at why I liked Jem I can see that it was more than just a simple cartoon. There was more to it than anything else out at the time. It was made with the desire to actually teach youth something as opposed to just solely entertaining them.
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

Yes I remember it. I use to have the doll. It outlived all the Barbies I pulled apart.

I vaguely remember. All I know is she changed personalities, but I'm not quite sure.
