I'll admit, I got hooked on MySpace, but some people take it way too seriously.
First and foremost is the popularity thing. So what that you can convince 500 people to add you to their friend list. That definitely doesn't make you cool. It is not a contest to see who can get the most "friends". Not to mention, do you ever even talk to any of those people? I care enough about all the people on my friend list that I send them each a message for every holiday or birthday. Can you do that to 500 people? I think not.
Next is the Top 4 or 8 or 12 or whatever. It is not the end of the world if someone is ranked higher than you on your friend's page. That is not how you should rate your friendship. People will call and complain or get heartbroken for being bumped on someone's top friend list. Get over it. Some people change it like they change their underwear. Everyone will get a turn at that rate. I have a friend that turns his into a boredom battle. He gives a challange to come up with the most interesting pic (with some specific criteria). He makes the winners his new top friends.
Then we move on to the relationship status. Changing "In a relationship" to "Single" on your page is not how you break up with someone. That also means that your world should not depend on what someone says in that spot on their page. However, it may be a good idea to question your spouse if theirs says anything other than married.
What do you think? Is there another thing on MySpace that people read too much into?

I personaly only have 31 friends one myspace . I like it that way because they are some of my closest friends . I don't add people unless I have been talking to them for a while and I do mean A long while..
I've seen people with 1,000 plus friends before I asked them how many they actually knew .. well they said less than 10 that thay talk to all the time :0

I completely agree. And to see some of this pictures of girls in their bras and underwear that don't even look 18! That is pathetic. I use my lot to stay in touch with my close friends and family and a few of my favorite bands. But if I dont know the person wanting me to add them they get denied!
