living in the Philippines is really GREAT! it's simple, and bit laid back... not the usual "living" for people who are from first world countries...
our country has a lot of nice places that you can visit. I suggest that you first stop in Palawan... In Palawan, you can visit, Puerto Princesa City, El Nido, Coron, BUsuanga and Amanpulo... Amanpulo is a world class resort which is really really expensive... In Puerto Princesa City, you can go to the underground river. THe river is really AMAZING! you could also go island hoping in Honda BAy, still in Puerto Princesa City. In El Nido, island hoping is also good. It is also a good site for diving. In Coron, you are into wreck diving and a warm bath in the therapeutic hot spring...
you could also go to Bohol and see the smallest primate, the tarsier and the world's famous chocolate hills...You could also go whale watching in Pamilacan Island still in Bohol... you can also go to Moalboal, Malaspacua, and Bantayan Islands in Cebu...In Moalboal, there is a dive site there where you can dive with the hammerhead sharks... Thresher sharks on th other hand could be found in Malapascua Island... All the islands that I have mentioned to you have white sand beaches...
You could also surf in Siargao, SUrigao.. do whitewater rafting in Davao and dagayan de Oro... They also have a canopy walk in Claveria... you could also visit the banaue rice terraces which is considered as one of the seven wonders of the earth... and you can even swim with the largest fish on earth, the whale shark...
there are lots of places which you can visit if you come to our country. You will never regret it...

your welcome webeishere!
cliffcliff, the reason why we are always telling you to visit the beach is that your visit to our country will not be complete if your not able to visit our beautiful beaches (LOLZ)... it is what tourists are after... but if you like food, i would recommend that you visit DAVAO and eat DURIAN... the durian festival is fast approaching which is this coming August. there are also lots of fruits in Davao and delicious exotic food.

Philippines has different kinds of places...it is depends on you what kind of place do you want to go. We have the urban area like Manila, Makati and Quezon City where you can see lots of shops, historical places, bars and restaurants. Night Life is very famous on this part of the country. But if you want simple living you can go to our provinces especially barrios where people are much more hospitable. Still there are lots of historical places but limited shops and Night lifes. In provinces there are lots of fresh fruits and vegetables plus fresh air. I myself mostly would like to stay in the province but unfotunately I have also to work hard here in Makati to support my family and save to buy ample amount of land in the province. But as a foreigner like you, since your currency is much more bigger than ours..it is more convenient to invest in provinces. Land there are lot cheaper same with the commodities.
People there are more industrious and honest. Provinces are less crimes also. Hope to see you here in the Philippines sometime.

As a whole what is the crime rate like in any and all areas of the cities? What types of crimes are the most that occur? What is the murder rate persay? Just curios as opposed to the USA's murder rates/crimes. Thanks in advance.

The Philippines if full of kind hearted and loving people. We would like to see you come around. However, I am not an authority on the beautiful places to visit, as they are quite numerous. Please contact the Department of Tourism, Manila, Philippines. I am sure they will be very glad to help you out. A website was developed but I do not know how to go about surfing the net. You know, I belong to the category of the old dog who finds it difficult to learn new tricks. You can secure more information from the Philippine Embassy which holds office in your country. Please, just give them a call.

Well, we have a very tropical weather here, very ideal for tanning, lot of shinny happy smiling natives who can speak even a little englisg- lots of islands to visit. You can start to visit the northern part or Luzon and i suggest you go to baguio where the so called "8th" wonder of the world is located which is the "ifugao rice terraces" they have a slightly cool climate back there and lots of strawberries and every product made out of strawberries, they also have peanut brittle which is a sweet delight- which made out of caramelized sugar and peanuts, very ideal for those with sweet tooth. then you can visit the ilocos region where they have ancient ancestral homes there- you can get some bright decorating ideas there as well and try to have a taste of their "vigan longganisa" or vigan sausage. Then off to the Middle part- Visayas, where boracay is located- a world famous beach resort, and you can also visit Cebu-the catholic central of the philippines, usually i would suggest you go to Guimaras island, however there was recently an unfortunate oil spill incident that almost ruined the entire island.. well then off to the southern part - Mindanao, a lot of islams here so a little respect with thier culture can bring you a long way- hmm i havent been really on any parts of mindanao all i know so far is that they have the one of the worlds deepest trench.. and of course the davao part of it is the most friendly of it all- At Davao city you will get to encounter the fruit that smells like hell but tastes like heaven- the Durian fruit. So far all ive mentioned was the food. haha.. i wouldnt want you getting hungry over your trip =)

oh..haha, thanks, i love talking about food, why didnt you say so! =)
i forgot to mention, i really dont know if you have this food back there, but in here its like the food of the Gods-LECHON de LECHE or Lechon Cebu-this is like an entire roasted pig you might find it weird to eat cause it might look too cruel, but its very delicious- and the KARE-KARE, this a casserole out of ox tripes and some PATA or pork legs and ox tails as well in peanut sauce, made much more delectible by a small serving of what we call "BAGOONG" or shrimp paste =) you should try to eat it when you come over, the best restaurants that can serve a delicious kare kare you can try the "Aristocrat" or the "BARRIO FIESTA" for the best lechons- try "Lydia's Lechon"...well so far thats all i can suggest.. =)
ill try to research on more restaurants for you as well as the prices so you'll know how much money you have to bring for eating all those!!! lol...

Living in the Philippines is like living in other countries as well. If you want city life, Manila is very alive. If you want mountains, then I suggest mountain province, If you want beaches, boracay or dakak and other beautiful beaches. I am not good in describing a place but Philippines has very easy place to adapt for living.

It's already summer here, it depends on you on how you want to spend it here. Lent is also near, more people here are into traditions like reinacting the twelve stations of the cross and the crucifixion of Christ (also reinacted by a devotee).
For beaches and resorts, there are lots of them here. As I think you already knew some of them from previous posters here, but one of the best world class is "Boracay".
For other summer vacation spots, there's Baguio and Tagaytay.
If you want to know more about our country, try looking in this site:

i haven't been around the country yet but i've been to all three major islands. the beaches in boracay is a must-see if you are planning to come over. also in bohol. the beaches are just as pretty but not as crowded. plus! you get value for money since the cost of living here in relatively cheaper. im sure you've got moolahs, lots of them. so next time, perhaps you can take us with you for a visit in your place.
