Have you ever eaten a Garbage Plate?

Garbage Plate - A Garbage Plate is a combination of a several different dishes. It originated at Nick Tahou's in Rochester, NY.

A good friend of mine from Rochester, NY was telling me about a dish called a Garbage Plate and how it originated at a place there by the name of Nick Tahou's. It really does not sound appetizing at all to me, but she claims it is delicious. If you are like me and have never heard of it, here is an article where you can read about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garbage_plate So, have you eaten one? If so did you like it? If not, does this sound good to you?

I have never eaten it nor have I heard of it and I only live about an hour from where it originated. I looked at that article and found it to be interesting. I might consider trying it. But I'm not really sure about it. Any idea of the cost of such a meal?

I have no idea how much it cost. It looks like you could vary the meal quite a bit though -- several choices of what goes into it.

Well, I might have to go to Rochester on the 24th. Maybe I'll go check it out if I have time.

It looks a lot like some other all in one dishes that are springing up, but I bet this is the original. I could make a combination out of some of the things I saw there.

Actually this is the first time I have heard about it. That is a strange name to name a plate of supposedly delicious food though but it does call attention to itself being named that and I bet it is ordered alot just out of curosity. I would order it just to see what it tasted like. It looks kinda funny though appetizing looking I would rate it a 3 but then again things that don't look great is sometimes the best food we can eat. I would try it though and if I liked it I would try to make it at home...

i am going to have to ask my aunt and 2 cousins who also live in the rochester NY area, if they have ever eaten this. I never heard of it, but the one restraunt around us makes a garbage pizza, which is a pizza with almost all the topping u can imagine or whatever they have laying around at the time, from peppers, to mushrooms, to suasage, to pepperoni, to onions.

I took a look at the site that you posted, and I think that it looks pretty appetizing to me, actually! *laugh* The name is what is a bit offputting. I mean, who would want to eat something with 'garbage' associated with the name? *laugh* But I understand the significance of the name. ^_^

Although everything that goes into it looks ok, I'm not sure the combo of it would agree with me. LOL

Of course I have! I'm about 40 miles south of Rochester, NY.. I tell you Rochester is known for George Eastman (Kodak), Zwiegles Hot dogs (YUMMY), and the Garbage Plate from Nick Tahou's.. These are delicious but so not good for your arteries. What could be better? White hot and a cheesburger on top of home fries, french fries- and to top it off onions, and Tahou's spicy sauce-- meat and grease-- I add tons of ketchup-- and you have a great lunch! Ok so you just can't eat it everyday! : ) If you're ever in the area-- Try one out-- They don't look that great but let me tell you- They are! Many restaurants have tried to duplicate this in the area-- none have succeeded! Nick Tahou's is the best!

as a resident of rochester, i have had many garbage plates, as well as having worked in resturants that serve them. I think they are great.
