Some of us experiencing a period of depression in her life. God designed human to have the capacity to experience it. Many women suffer Depression and not even recognizing it. "Recent studies confirm that the most prominent causes of depression among women worldwide are hormones, Genetic Links, Life Stress."(Weber , Catherine) I guess women are easily depressed because of their sensitivity and are usually prone to stress. Women are usually affected with problems at home more than Men do.Or maybe because most of women nowadays just stay at home and care for their children giving her anxiety and stress and work overload.

Yes in a way because women are too emotional when it comes to family matter, they tend to think more and see the problems rather than a man who always at work. It is more stressful when your at home rather when your at the office because of the budget money matters children and everything.Sometimes you feel exhausted and tired of everyday routine, and feel like you want space and some air to breath.

depression - Depression
I truly agree that women are the first to get affected when it comes to family matters as we are too emotional. We had this feelings of protection to our family members and if something happens we get easily affected because we are so attached with the people we cared about.

It is a chemical and hormonal problem that women suffer more than men. We are also emotional creatures, more so then men.

Hormones play a big part in it but day to day life can also get to people. Years ago there were tons of sanatriums and sanatoriums that treated those with unnamed diseases; if regular docs couldn't pinpoint what was wrong, they were sent to one of these places. Being a female I will admit that I do get emotional over small things that seem trivial to men but not to the point where I feel I need medication. Depression can be a crippling thing, I have two good friends that are going through some dark times. I can't do much for them except offer my friendship and company and sometimes that makes a world of difference to them.

No, I think is just the feeling that men are more superior than women which makes them feel depressed.

Women probably tend to get more depressed because of hormone fluctuations, but there are all the environmental contributors also such as caring for family, feeling the need to be "perfect", feelings of isolation and difficulty in expressing anger as if often true for many women. Another possible reason why the numbers of women experiencing depression is higher (as far as in statistics) is that women tend to seek help for mental health issues more often than men do. This may make the numbers seem higher? I'm not sure though.

Women are prone to being depressed because they are also prone to stress. As you can see women hormones are different to men and they can seldom withstand stress in life, especially some problems arises in our home.

Hi, i do agree with you that women are more prone to depression than men. i am a nursing student and as what ive learned from school, hormonal changes contribute a lot to women with depression. I guess one thing that also contribute to it is the way how men thinks as compared to women.nowadays, both men and women are working so there are more added stress for the women since they also have to take care of the children and as well the chores at home.women also are more sensitive than men in a lot of things. i am a woman and i guess the best thing to do is to manage time and as well know how to relax.

I think it's our nature. we feel more emotions, we have the stronger, sensitive hormones. It just makes sense I guess.

Well first of all I think the numbers of men that are depressed are underrated, primarily because men are not as good communicators as women. I mean how many men will go to the doctor for the reason that they are depressed. Sadly for men I think there is a stigma. Women on the other hand don't seem to suffer from the stigma and will ask for medication. Men also react differently in severely depressed episodes. Not all depressions reveal themselves as "I don't want to get out of bed."

We're more observant to what's going on around us. We're more emotional too. And my favorite reason...........because we have to put up with men - HEHEHEHEHE Sorry, just had to do it!!!
