Ok so My step son is almost 6 and still wets the bed,he refuses to go to the bathroom at night he just wont wake up and go.My husband and i have even tried waking him up and taking him to the bathroom and he gets mad and pees on the floor. His mother and step dad still put him in pull ups at night and that is just somthing i wont do,I think he should be able to control his bladder at this age and dont know why the dont encourage him to do so.They seem to be very lacks about alot of things they wont teach him to tie his shoes because they dont want to,they dont buy him new clothes when he grows out of the old ones they just keep putting him in the old and too small for him clothes,it really breaks my heart I mean he is in school now and i know it wont be long before he gets made fun of for looking dorky in his way too short pants or tshirt and what happens if the class is at nap time and he wets himself cause he is used to just going when he feels like it when he is asleep. If anyone has any suggestions please help me,he is a very stuborn child and it seems like any thing i say to try and teach him and help him in this area he just doesnt wanna hear,I say "sweetie big boys go to the bathroom at night when they need to they dont wear diapers" and he says " my mom says its ok for me to pee on myself that its just fine" how do you deal with that,he doesnt see any reason to try to do it the right way. What should i do,we only have him two nights a week and every other weekend but i want to try and get him passed this for his sake and mine.thanks so much .

It's hard for you to do anything since the kid is still going back and forth with his birth mom and he is also in the age of rebelling. He knows you are not his mom and he thinks you are trying to replace his mom's place. So it will have to depend on his parents. You should not interferebut just be there when he falls so you can lift him up.
