Should the legal drinking age change for our servicemen?

We send young men out at the ripe old age of 18 to fight for us. We expect them to carry a weapon many of us would never even want to touch. To make decisions that are both life saving and life threatening. Yet we tell them that they are to young to control themselves enough to drink a beer. Some how I do not find this right. What do you think?

I myself don't drink so I think the age of 21 is fair. I think it could not be easily regulated to let some drink at 18 and others 21.

Thank you for your thoughts. To clarify I am not saying to initiate drinking among soldiers but I feel if your going to be treated as an adult and go to war than you are an adult in everyway.
As far as it being hard to regulate, I don't think so soldiers carry a military ID.

I guess this was confusing to you, sorry. All I am asking is do you think it is fair that young people of 18 can go to war but cannot drink? I hope this explains it better.

actually I left 18 behind almost ten years ago... if only I could go back and live everything in my life from the time I was 18 until now and know what I know now, I would do it.....there are some things that I would change, and some that I wouldn't.

Yes. I believe if you are able to fight and die for this country, you should be able to have a drink. The drinking age is set due to responsibility. There are plenty of 21 year olds who don't drink responsibly anyway, our soldiers deserve to relax and be able to drink.

Thank you for your views on this subject. I think the men and women out fighting for our country have had no choice but to mature so they deserve to be treated as a mature adult and that includes having the right to order a drink.
