What do you think of the Amish?

The whole time I was growing up, I had never encountered an Amish person. I lived in the south and, if they are around there, I certainly never saw them, but I'd heard of them. Then, when I came to college in the midwest, I started to see more and more of them. Slowly, I began to dislike them, based both on my interaction with them and the opinions of others. Then I met my wife, who was born and raised in Amish country. Though she herself was not Amish, her family does have Amish roots. This is where I learned that much of what I was told about the Amish was true. For the most part, I've come to realize that Amish people are greedy and hypocritical. Of course, there are exceptions as not all people of a group are the same. My opinion hasn't changed much of Amish people (though I've met a few nice ones here and there), but I am curious as to what you think of them? Have you ever seen or dealt with Amish people? What was your experience?

I have never delt with them. I have seen them upclose quite a few times. During the fall months my husband and I go to Pennsylvania quite alot you day trips for the stores there. Thats were alot of live. The appisode that happen this summer with the crazed man who shot alot of amish girls in their school was terrible. They do not deserve this nobody does. They stay to themselves and dont bother us. I cant say anything bad about the amish.

I've never dealt with the Amish on a first hand basis. The only knowledge that I know about them is what I've seen on television or read in books. They are in intriguing group, and you can definitely learn something from them. I wouldn't want to necessarily join their way of life, but it's definitely an interesting one.
