how to make a chat client?

I want to make my own chat room or a IM client like the yahoo messenger or something like that.Any body know how to make one?

you can use java applet to make an chat room on the web. while if u wanna make a software like msn messenger u need to know a programming language.....i would suggest learn java as tht will how to make java applet as well as code it n make a jar file which ppl can load on there PC's and run it.

thanx for ur sugestion.i will definitely think over it.by the way,i have installed one chat script on my site.plz check out www.abhisekonline.com/chat now i am thinking how to make its marketing.
