I can assure you that the Bible was written to be understood. I am curious, are you reading an old version like King James Version or other older ones using old english? Have you tried to read the New Living Bible? Demons have nothing to do with it. If ever, not to the extent of blinding your eyes of understanding. As long as you have the real interest, you will understand.

thank you much for responding.. i have tried a couple different ones both with newer writing, (one for children! lol) i just cant seem to grasp it.. ive tried reading bits and peices as well as trying to treat it "like a regular book".. any ideas on where i could get some instruction?.. i feel kinda silly but its the truth!.. ive never had any comprehension problems and have no difficulty reading the words.. do you really think its that i dont have a genuine interest? i mean isnt the fact that ive tried morethan once indicative that i have true interest to learn?.. i mean honestly there may be a part of me that only feels the need to understand it because its something i have yet to succeed in.. but should that really stop me from comprehending it?

I started reading the Bible when I was 16 and I had exactly the same problem. I went to see a friend to seek help and he advised me to start reading the gospel of John in the New Living Bible. A lot easier approach than starting with Genesis to Revelation. Attending bible studies also helps a lot. And don't forget to ask for guidance as you read. Enjoy your Bible, God bless!

Holy cow, kitty...You are not cursed. I'm embarrased to say that I haven't read the Bible in some time; used to ALL the time. Been trying to find a good church to go to here and CJ dearly loves to go. I need to keep the Lord in our family life; CJ says his prayers to Jesus every nite.
I guess the word for where I'm at right now is 'backslid'.
For me, I have to admit, it's laziness. I want to sleep in on Sundays; got to get off my you-know-what and just DO it!
It helps if you have a version of the Bible that uses everyday wording; Kings James Version is so beautiful but it is hard to understand. You could have it and another version to compare the scripture to if you like.
I know that my life is much happier and I'm at peace with everything when I put 'Him' first. Talk to 'Him' everyday, like you would a flesh and blood person. Keep a relationship going and you'll be amazed at how even the 'little things' won't bother you any longer. I know I have more patience, etc. when I do that.
Anyway, I'm finished with the preaching...lol. I'm going to step up to the plate and get back to where I know I belong.
Bless you, kitty.

Try getting a study buddy, someone who can help you understand it better. Or reading the same verses from different types of bibles. I have about 3 or 4 different styles of the bible. I mostly use the KJV, but when there is something I dont understand I get out different kinds. There are also study bibles that help. I got mine on Ebay. You can usually find one cheap on there. I even bought one called "The Bible for Blockheads" Now I am not a blockhead, and I am not saying you are either, but that one helps me out a lot when I dont understand something in the bible. It puts it in plain words that I use, so I understand it better. Hope this helps.

yes, i tried to read the bible once. the language inside is too old and cannot be understood unless we have the translation. however i am eager to know about the conspiracy theories as what have been elaborated inside the movie, Da Vinci Code.
