Why do people say they support the troops but not their president?

Its seem like the favorite headline when we talk about the Iraq war.
Don't the armed forces work for the president?
This brave kids volunter to go work for the president, most believe they never fight and just get a free college education.
Alot of my friend went with this theory that they would coast through their contract without the mind to fight for their country.
Ok back to the subject, am i wrong on this?

That's a though one... I think the problem is that many people support our troops but not our president simply because our soldiers look like victims when they're sent to war. The president, however, looks like the bad guy because he's making the desition to send them.

That is true, that the media, family friends are biased to make their kids look like the victims and its all the president fault. But i thought we had a choice in life?
