What I do is make a list of all the people I am giving gifts to and brainstorm what I think they would like. I then get some sales papers or look online and see the price range for that particular gift. That way I can get an idea of how it is all going to cost me. after I have it all done, I make an official list and go shopping. :)

Wow. A lot of work. I just make a list of people I need to buy for then start to look. Most of my family is realy into books so Barnes & Nobles gets a lot of buisness from me every year (thank god for that membership card).

Amazon.com is actually a wonderful place to buy textbooks. Many times they are actually cheaper than Barnes and Nobles, and if you are willing to buy a used textbook you can really save some big bucks.

I always buy used books. Most of the books I am using for class, I am the first class using the book. I do shop around - B&N, Amazon, Textbook X and Half.com and buy the best price - new or used. The last 2 books I bought were from TextbookX.com I saved at least $20 compared to the other vendors. Barnes & Noble is the only other vendor that I found that has a consistently lower price. Amazon usually doesn't have the books I want used. I will buy form Half.com if I have a week or so for my book to come in since they take awhile to ship.

I have it easy because my kids are little still so we just make a list for Santa. The rest of my family gives suggestions and then I end up with some gift cards for the teens which are hard to buy for.

Making a list of the people who are going to receive gifts and then deciding what to give them is the hardest part. After that, marathon shopping is in order. Crowds are hard to deal with so waiting until 8:30 at night to go to the mall has been an option for the last several years. You still have 1 1/2 hrs to shop and you can do this in virtual peace and quiet.

I never thought about going at that time. Thanks for the tip! I always try to go early in the morning but sometimes it seems that everyone has that same idea lol. Thanks for your response!

The usual list of people I want to give a x'mas gift is in my head. If I shop for gifts last minute, I usually end up buying things people may not need - I will be buying because I have to. To avoid that I buy the whole year round as and when I see something worth buying.

A few months before it's rather a mental process, I think of things they would like, spotting them, although I don't go out to get them nearer to the time which can often result in a rush.

I make a mental list for everyone that I have to buy for. Then every couple of weeks when I get paid, I start marking names off of my list as I make that particular purchase. I like to surprise people so I really don't ask them what they want or think about it until I walk thru the store and see something that catches my eye.

I make out a list of who I am buying for and the price I typically spend.
Then, I start coming up with ideas for those people.
I start shopping early.
Just wish I wouldn't procrastinate on the wrapping part of Christmas. I typically wait until the night or two before Christmas to wrap!!

I always try to start buying early, I like shopping online and Wal-mart of course, I usually make a list of all the people I need to buy for, so I know how many gifts I have to purchase.
