I never realized this when I was younger but it is sooo important to keep a good credit rating! People just dont know this. Thats why so many people get so far into debt.I had to file bankruptcy a long time ago because of an errant a hole husband but eventually I built it back up to where I can go get a loan just on my signature. Its a safe good feeling to know that you have a high score on your credit rating isnt it?

Well, maybe I have a similar situation. I was married at age 17 and divorced at 19. I am now happily remarried and I have TERRIBLE credit, because, my ex won't pay for the items that he got to keep. We had a house, vehicle and some utilities in both our names. He wanted the house so I let him have it and to this day, he is late on most payments. And, it goes on MY credit regardless of whether or not I have it. So, I too, have bad credit but I live in a small area and have a local bank where I have unlimited access to signature loans because they know my situation first hand. My advice to all is to KEEP GOOD CREDIT. This time has got to where if you don't have good credit, you can't survive. I had to have a credit check just to have our electricity turned on!

Cassie, Why didnt the judge fix it to where all that debt belonged to the ex only?? Wow, girl, thats just not fair at all. If you ever get to where you can pay for it, try seeing a lawyer to see what you can do so that you can rebuild your own credit. My exes name is still on my mortgage payment but I pay it so it doesnt matter to me. PLus the mortgage company wants to charge me 75 bucks to take his name off of it! I dont think so!!! LOL
