What crochet project are you currently working on? Right now, I'm working on a pair of sock for my mother, a sweater for my dog, and an interesting scarf pattern that I have found. I just got Debbie Stoller's new book, "The Happy Hooker" which has some interesting projects in it I just gotta try!

I just started an afghan for my daughter and her husband, they are getting a new living room set and I thought it would be nice to have something warm to snuggle up with that would match the colors in the room. It is called MiLadys Beauty. The colors are dark Burgandy (which matches the leather couch) a soft rose, light sage and a forest green. It is very pretty. I am also cross stitching a baby annoucement for the baby that they just had. Happy hooking to you

I'm working on a large filet crochet mat for a friend, which goes on a coffee table. The pattern is the Claddagh, The irish symbol of love and friendship. This project is my third filet crochet project after being given a set of steel crochet hooks by a friend. I like the filet crochet because it sort of combines my favorite craft hobbies, crocheting and cross stitch.

I have a filet crochet book around here somewhere. So many crafts so little time. Right now I'm working on a granny square scarf for a class I'm teaching tomorrow night. It would be nice to have a finished one to show the class. Each square is 3 or 4 different colors. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and it reminds me of my high school days when granny square vests were all the rage.

Wow! I never even though of that! I love crocheting AND cross stitch... I guess I never really looked into doing filet projects, but now that I know it's similar to cross stitch...I may have yet another new craft to start on. LOL

All of the sudden I'm into making snowflakes and hunting down patterns! I've crocheted many items but mostly doilies, and I like the delicate work and the size 30 threads (though my eyes aren't what they used to be!)for detail. My girlfriend isn't very crafty but her 8 year old is interested. She doesn't have the patience to learn to crochet but wants to do projects with me. So, I thought I'd do a bunch of snowflakes that we can decorate together with glitter and such. I have to laugh at quatelmon, having three projects going at once! I try to avoid this myself, though I admit I'm not always successful!

Hehe! Yes, well...when I have three projects going at once, I always end up dropping one and picking it up later on! LOL Maybe your girlfriend would like larger crochet? They sell big crochet hooks that make it possible to finish a scarf in an hour. I've tried to make the delicate crocheted items, and have always had some trouble. I don't think it's my eyes, but it is probably my patience! LOL

I did start her off with afghan thread and a larger hook but she still doesn't quite have the patience. She's the kind that thinks she should be able to make a scarf after I show her how to chain! LOL I figure anything I can get her interested in is good as her mother doesn't craft at all and her daughter does have interest. We pressed flowers together for scrapbooks and photos but now that it's winter.....I did show her how to also make roses out of ribbon but her parents aren't comfortable with her handling a pointed needle.

I am working on a free lance baby blanket for my neice to be. I wanted to be able to spell her name in the blanket, so I am making popcorn balls to spell it out. It looks pretty good so far.

That's such a cute idea! I just started being able to make pictures and words look decent in crochet. I hope that your neice-to-be loves it!

I crochet afghans for Project Linus as part of a group of "blanketeers" from our church. I'd love to try a new pattern but it would have to be simple. And they prefer ones that don't have large spaces in them that catch on the hospital beds and equipment.

Hehe...Keep trying! It takes a bit to get shapes, but start off with something really really simple and you'll see what you were doing wrong to get the heart shaped heads (that's the way I did it!) Make your round REALLY even!

WEll right now I am working at finding the time to get yarn and actually do a ripple afghan. I am in re-learning candle making, getting into aromatherapy, and learning to make my own creams and such. It will probably be spring before I actually start the afghan but I did download the instructions from the one I want to make, so that is a start!

I am working on a sweater for my sister in law that was supposed to be her Christmas gift. I wasn't able yo finish it in time because i get pain in my fingers and hands when I work on it too long. It's looking really good though. I made raised chevron patters with front post treble crochets on the sleeves, just above the cuffs to make a nice pattern. I'm not following a pattern, I took her measurements and am working from those.

Good luck! I'm sure they will come out wonderful! I knit and crochet, and the thing I like the most about crochet is that it'll look great even if you mess up a little bit! Have fun, and I'm sure that they'll come out great! What a luck niece!

Started my "51" afghan on 12/21/06 (my birthday). It's NOT my 51st afghan - passed that mark a looooooong time ago - my granny taught me to crochet when I was 9 cough*42 years ago*cough - been crocheting for over 40 years now. And believe or not - I STILL have trouble reading patterns - can do them if someone shows me tho lol.

LOL...sometimes patterns are tricky. I find that if I just read the pattern once, I can figure out my own way to do it. It's much nice that way. :)

I'm currently trying to write a pattern of my own, but finding it quite difficult and slow. As I do a few stitches, I have to stop and write down in abbreviation terms what I'm doing and this really takes a lot of time. I always work on doll outfits; I find they're usually fast to work up and easier for me to manage.

I love crochet because it always works up faster than knitting! I've written many of my own patterns, but usually have to do the pattern 8 times before I can write it down correctly. :)

The best thing to do is to post your photograph in the crochet catagory. Or, start your own topic and post it! I'd love to see them.
