I was watching the Gerald Ford funeral and got to thinking of how many president's were in office in my life span so far. I was suprised on how many there has been. Here is my list: Kennedy 61-63, Johnson 63-69, Nixon 69-74, Ford 74-77, Carter 77-81, Reagan 81-89, Bush 1 89-93, Clinton 93-01, Bush 2. I think I got them all.

You are a youngster. I have to add Eisenhower and Truman.
Hmmm... that reminds me of my favorite Harry Truman story.
I saw him being interviewed on TV for a news analysis program after he had left office. As an ex president, his views on things were considered insightful and interesting.
The interviewer asked Harry Truman about Martin Luther King. The interviewer was dumbstruck when Harry Truman expressed a dislike for MLK.
But... but... he won the Nobel Peace Prize, blurted out the interviewer.
"Give'em heck Harry" plainly and simply replied, " I did not give it to him!"
I do not recall Harry Truman ever being asked his opinion again.

The reason that Harry Truman disliked Dr. King is simply this: Harry Truman was a racist and a democrat. Dr King was a republican (as was his father)and a civil rights leader.Enough said.
Sincerely in Christ,
Leesa C.

Thank you for that insight. I've found being a democrat and a racist go together more often than most people realize.
Remember too, Harry Truman was hardly asked for his opinion again after this that I recall. He paid a price.

Oh I never heard this thing about Harry Truman. Maybe he has his own reason why he detested Martin Luther King. I always think Truman was a good person because the British Queen, Elizabeth II was very fond of him and always in praise of his personality and that of his wife.

I don't think most people really put it into perspective but basically most only serve 4 years, okay some went 8, but all in all 4 years isn't long! Even a 21 year old could have as many as 5 presidents, assuming all are only 4 year leaders.
It is definitely something you don't really think about though!

I agree it is something you don't normally think about. I think maybe I am letting my age bother me a little. It is just that I am amazed how time flies by faster and faster.
