I have read 'The Fountainhead'. Did not get a chance to read her other books but really loved this one. This book was rejected by 12 publishers and was finally published by Bobbs-Merrill Company. However, I did not get a chance to see the movie 'The Fountainhead'.

Yes, I have read all of Ayn Rand's books. I began reading them as a teenager, and my parents were concerned that they would 'warp my mind', because they'd 'heard' about them. But my Pop would discuss them with me, read a chapter, and discuss again.
Different people bring away different meanings from her books. To too many people, her philosophy means that they can walk over others because they are superior... though they believe this without logical reason.
What I learned from them was that I could only claim superiority if I was the best I could possibly be. I still have quite a way to go in that department!
But the aspect of selfishness was what impressed me the most. When I told this to my parents, they became upset with the thought that I would only be concerned about 'number one'!!
This selfishness has been the cornerstone of my adult life. I believe in using my energies to do the best I can for me... and what is best for me is that my family , friends, neighbors... all the people in my life... get the best from me in any situation. Whats good for them makes me the happiest. And that is not a contradiction, if you think it through!
The movie made of 'The Fountainhead' starred Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal. It is very fast-paced because they wanted to get in as much from the book as they could. Still, there was so much that they couldn't use, so it feels a bit incomplete. This would be a WONDERFUL book to interpret as a mini-series!!

I liked fountainhead, but dont you think that Ayn Rands characters are a bit too simplistic, simple black and white, while real persons are always shades of grey
