I must admit I was pretty glad to see the last page of it, but it did have its good moments. I'm not an antiintellectual person, but I can't help wishing there'd been a bit less references to medieval latin writings. I'm currently giving Eco a second chance, reading The Name Of The Rose. After merely fifty pages, it seems to be pretty much the same as Foucault's Pendulum. Is that true, or is it just my first impression?

Wow it is one of the best books I have ever read, man the obscurity just sets your mind spinning, I can understand how you found it confusing but it rewards thought. Eco is my favourite living author bar none- just give him a chance

Glad to see a coupld of Eco fans here. Yes, many people say that they had problem with Faoucault's Pendulum, but there is no one, who has finished reading it, who has said that they disliked his The Name of the Rose! I liked both the works, and hold a high esteem for him, as a novelist and theorist. Keep reading him.

Foucault's Pendulum is among my very favorite books - it has stood up to multiple rereadings. The Name of the Rose, on the other hand, I didn't like nearly as much on rereading. All in all, though, Eco is definitely one of my very favorite writers.
