Farms are all over SE Washington. Central Cali has immense farming operations which I grew up next to.
Farming unfortunately is becoming a lost art in the US. Here we have BIG business taking over the farming and there are just small local farms that do the farmer's markets.
After being to various farms, (ie chicken, pig, cow, ostrich, fruit, vegetables) It has shown me the reasons not to buy meat from the local grocery stores. I only buy properly raised meat, without hormones and having the chance to live a normal life for the animal.
Every person should have their own garden growing at all times of year. It helps with many aspects in life.

Yes! I live in southern Virginia and there are farms around every corner! Mostly dairy and beef farms. Virginia is a beautiful state, and my children are lucky to grow up around "real" farms, not factory farms.
