How many are active....

Has anyone else noticed that of all the members Mylot shows, which is about 54000+ that a lot are not even active anymore, I just went through my friends and most of them haven't even logged in for weeks, are a lot of these members not even here anymore, who agrees that Mylot should maybe set a time limit on activaty, you must log in at least every couple weeks to stay a member. Just that it is misleading to potential members to see over 54,0000+ members when I would geuss about 60% are not even active, try going through some of your friends list and see just how many have actually logged in within the last week.

I dont think it would be fair to delete someones account just because they havent logged on recently..some people have situations that arise in life and somtimes cant make it to their computer. Sometimes i dont even log on, due to the fact that i have nothing to say and i dont feel like engaging in discussions..and some days i cant manage to shut my mouth :)As long as people are still logging on and making discussion thats all that really matters.

Being silent from having nothing to say for over a month is not right, this is a place of discussion an contribution, if in a month you cannot contribute then forum posting is not the place to be. As for family crisis, yes we all have them God forbid, but in that case life and family come first, and hands down mylot can wait. But if you just need to move, take a break, visit a friend go outa town, or what ever, this would be where the vacation option would come in, and members could use this option to put themselves on the vacation period, and this way there membership would not be deleted.

I agree with you MissGia. That happens to me sometimes too. I mean, there were times when I feel so actively engaged in any discussions and there were also times when I am just reading discussions and don't feel like posting replies. In some cases though, I try to post photos when I feel least talkative.

i agree that myLot should set some timeframe for users inactivity. but on the other hand, maybe users who have not logged in for weeks have their own circumstances. so i think it might be better if users who (maybe) planned to be away for certain periods of time can set their "away" time and if they still havent logged in after some periods of time "after" that "away" timeset, then only they considerred as "inactive".

right! this way maybe mylot can slowly get rid of inactive members, while not wrongly get rid of those who are inactive for reasons.

Oh yes well I never thought in the first place that there would be 54000 + still here when I first joined which was not that long ago, and yes they should set a time limit for activaty, but at least I know that mine are active at this time as they have responded to my discussions and asked to be added as a friend.

When I joined a little over a month or more ago, Mylot had 32,000 members, but there was a lot happening here, posts were everywhere, and it seemed all the members were active, I have notice that a lot of the big posters with numbers in the high thousnads have become silent....why is the question...

I think it's like with alot of things, when people first hear about mylot and sign up, they are excited about it and log on all the time to post. After awhile, people get bored with it, and see that they are not making much money either, so they stop doing it.

I do not agree to a time limit at all because things happen to people beyone their control and while they are away, in the hospital or else where, their mylot will be deleted and they will lose all their hard earned money! I am just now getting back on mylot after being away for 45 days, (sick in the hospital) and I would have been devistated to come back to a blank screen, a pulled account and money lost, think of that!?

Yes I am in the process of deleting people that are in my friends list that I know are inactive, there are some there that I know are gone a for a reason and they are the ones along with the actives I will keep.

Hm....yes the members strengtyh is showing around 54000+ for sure and many of them are not active as you said and i don't think accounts should be deletedif they are not active for a week or twoBut, i also do feel that if somebody is not active for 3 months or so, his account should be deleted as i also heard that some of them are lohgging in sftera gap of 4 months or 5 months or so.I don't know how far is this true, but i cam e to know this from someone here....anyway's, it's only my view here..

I found this link in Mylot it shows a number of 2603, now I don't know if this is the active members or the current ones online, but either way, that number is a far far cry from 54,000+ http://www.mylot.com/w/lists/7_85090/members.aspx

I haven't really looked through to see who was active or not. I am trying to find a new job and I don't even get to get on here as much as I used to. I come by when I can...

But even in your spare time you still manage to make an effort, which is reasonable, there are some that just sign up and either do not post at all, out blow in every month to post a few lines and not contribute to the forum at all.

Do you really think the percentage is that low? What is a good size for a community. I have seen some people who are all for finding more members, then others who say it has already grown too big. I guess a time limit might be okay, I just feel for those who lose internet due to weather reasons.

That is the problem, the counter says we have over 54,000 members but that is no way right, not if you count the active ones, the actual count if you took out the inactive members I would say is about 45,000. Mylot should clean out the inactive members so active members know just exactly how many there really is here, and maybe then we could push a little harder to get more good members, but it is hard I know for myself to push for more referrals when I see the ones I already have not being active, mylot should push these referrals in to either posting or being deleted.

yeah, my dear i noticed the same thing as well in the case of two of my friends whom i invited last week;they are complaining that the stuff is too tedious to their liking.....

As for posts 35 36 and 38 this is not a job, it is meant to be a discussion board where members come to share there thoughts, experience and to have a little fun, and possibly make some online friends, those that take the approach that this is a job and work may as well hit the delete key. That being the case, then a lot of members are being led here under the wrong intentions, so the lack of activity is also to be blamed on the current members.

I think you have something there, that a lot of these members thought they were going to come here and make little effort and earn big money, which to me they were falsely led here.

I think its fine for all the members here to decide when they feel like to log in to participates. I don't think there's a need to set a time frame or time limit to force the members to log in. Each member have their own reasons to be here...some might for earnings, some just to have funs and some might come here to get their answers.I don't think its a misleading for anyone to look at the populations as it was all the true members regardless they were active or not actives.

If members are here for the earnings then they will be active as this is the only way it should be that you will earn, as far as getting a list of referrals and letting them do all the work and you site on the sidelines I do not agree with, you should be active to receive any referral earnings. This that are here just for the information can get the info without being a member, you can still look at the posts you just can't reply to them. And no the membership should reflect only the active members not the community as a whole, to say that is like my boss at work telling his customers we have 1000 employees, I have 20 that work here and the other 980 well those used to work for me but left and went else where....that isn't a very good representation of his business.

Well, I have noticed a lot of the people who used to post on here, including a lot of my Referals no longer do anything here, so there are a lot of people who have not done things in here for a long time. I recently took a couple people off of my Friends list for no longer being Active on here. I think if we look at the overall people who still post on here, how many you think are Really still actively posting on here, and able to Cash out each month?

The membership numbers are definitely not a reflection of the actual amount of members here, or at least the active ones....

I imagine that they simply got fed up for spending a lot of time here and seeing very little money if any at all. Remember that most people here are just because they see this to earn extra cash. As it takes about 40 posts to earn you a dollar, they must have decided to use their time in something more productive... Being here is lots of fun, but it is time consuming! :)

I think the system should delete those members who's aren't active. They only take room in the server of myLot.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they are cheating the members by not having an active count but it still none the less be up to date. Myself I will not refer a program with a large membership as I feel there is little to no room left to refer a member to and it is to hard to refer a member to a large site, as in the back of your mind you think that just about everyone you know must already be a member, when the actual truth is that the site doesn't have that many members, and there is a lot of room for referring.

Every forums or messageboard I've been on has a lot of inactive members. A lot of places have a member prune every month or so, but it's an unavoidable thing really.

Yes I do understand it is unavoidable and not only forums have this problem, but here I don't think they even clean up the inactives, actually I requested this info about a month ago, I thought I was going to be gone for a few weeks for surgery, so I sent Mylot a message telling tem I would be gone and for roughly how long, they emailed me back a week or so later, telling me that there was no time limit on inactivity...I kinda thought that a little weird, as you would think you would like to know just how many people are actually using your program, especially when money is involved.
