When people request to be your Mylot friends, how does this work?

I joined mylot yesterday and when I got up this morning I had three requests of people wanting to be my friends. I accepted them all, and I remember one person had a discussion I responded to. My question is this, how does this all work? I'm glad to add people as friends, but if they are current members already, is there any benefit for me in terms of earnings? I know I can see what discussions they have started, but what I want to know, is what are the benefits, and how does it work? I tried to look around in the FAQ's but could not find what I was looking for. Thanks!

When someone asks to be my friend I will generally accept them. I will respond to 1 or 2 of their discussions if they are of interest to me. But I also expect that they will respond to my discussions as well. If anyone on my list of friends does not respond to my discussions, spams, cuts and pastes etc then I will delete them.
The only financial benefit from friends is that they will or should also respond to your discussions and as mentioned by caribe earlier, friends often search through all your discussions and will respond to one that has no respones. That brings it up to the top of the discussions and might attract more responses.
Of course there is no compulsion for a friend to respond to your discussions, and if they don't it is up to you what they do. Once I have responded to at least one discussion from my friends list each day, if they are responding to mine, then I will go to my own discussions and respond to those who responded. :)

Thank you so much for giving me best response and I am honoured to be the first one you have awarded it to. :)

With friends there is a nice option you can select where you can turn on email notifications to when you friend starts a new discssuion. And when they start a new discssion you have a possible discussion that you would like to respond to. That is the only effect it has to your earnings... but of course you could have just found their discussion by looking on the site too.
When I first joined I was like you, added anyone and everyone who asked. But once I saw what kind of dicussions they were adding to myLot I had to delete them as most of them were not worth my time. Now when I get an invite to be someones friend, I go and look at all the topics that they have started to see if there is some that I wouldn't mind responding too or if they are just silly discussions.
Other than that I don't really believe there is anything more to being a friend with someone. I am sure tht someone will correct me if I am wrong.
Good luck with myLot...enjoy

Excellent, thank you for responding. This explains a lot! About Mylot! Heh heh. It is probably a good idea to at least be a little selective when choosing friends, otherwise in a couple weeks, a list could get a little out of hand. Thanks again, I appreciate it!

Friends? who needs them? - We all do, to look at your own discussions and to post quality discussions that you can respond to. Big problem is that a lot of them only want it to be a one way process - ie look at the rubbish they write so that they can earn more. My policy (at the moment) is to approve all the requests then weed them out later, because you won't know how good a friend you've got until you have been friends for a while.

I add some of the people who reply to my topics to my friends list.
Then I go through their topics and answer all I can, Hopefully they will do the same for me.
That way we both become friends and help each other earn more money.

i also had the same situation like you. i got several (more than 10 requests) requests asking they want to be my friend. i like making friends. with few of them i started sending message and receiving messages.
but one interesting thing is i do response to my friend's discussions if that matches my interest. but i don't see anyone of them responded me. may be i am little fool and my friends are little bit more clever.
besides you are getting some friends, if they repond your discussion that i guess some way help for your earnings. but i am not sure how, because no where i saw the calculation or discussion how much you can get if someone respond your discussion. people are saying that helps in your earnings, but how ? no one told that.

Same thing happening to me... I got lot of requests of being friends..and I am accepting all of them by now.. and I see all o fthem's discussions and atleast one response I give to everyone... But I have noticed that noone had responded as ever to my discussion or reponses I gave. What is the use for friend then..
It's ok money is not always a criteria but as community wise also they should atleast respond... If they cant' why have they made request then... I guess friends means helping eachother in discussion as well as earning... this ways both side they will earn good... but alas!!!!!!!!! I am wrong here......

I think the use of having friend here in Mylot is you can ask your friends some question personally or if you want people in a certain country, have the same interest to respond on your question.

mylot friends, yes people want to join you as friends as some of them do become your friend and communicate with you not only on here in the discussions but through private messages as I have, and also due to probably you are going to put in put into discussions and responses but it applies mainly to discussions as you will receive an email saying that they have started a discussions so some times it is a good idea to add them so hopefully this has explained a bit more for you.

I to have been mystified by the friends thing here. I have a couple here on mylot ~ they requested me and I accepted. I respond to most all their posts but I don't think they respond to mine. Oh well...lol
I just started requesting friends based on what they post...if I like their topics of conversation I will request them as a friend.
