South Philly native my foot! The man was raised in Doylestown, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia and move to South Philly! I love the movie (huge Eagles fan plus Mark Wahlberg--yum!) but the inaccuracies are too much to stomach. I'm just grateful I was just a little kid when he tried out and played (5) and seeing Vets Stadium, even if computer generated, brought a tear to my eye. Anyone else grow up during that time or from that area?

I am not from that area but am a huge Eagles fan and I loved the movie, even though there were some inaccuracies in it. No movie is perfect in my opinion but I think Mark Wahlberg was the perfect actor for this movie and the role. It was very entertaining and I do remember Veterans Stadium very much as I had season tickets to their games for several years, most of which was during when they were not very good.

Wasn't the recreation of the Vet incredible? I was too little to remember when it was clean (heck, it was opened a few months before I was born!) but it was stunning, nonetheless! I agree with you--Mark Wahlberg was the PERFECT actor for the role (I don't think even a young Stallone could have done him justice!) I just can't get over him not having a noticeable South Boston accent any more (plus remembering him as a New Kid on the Block member and when he first started acting--Boogie Nights?).

They did a very good job of reenacting this stadium and I remember how small and dirty and cramped it was there. I definitely will always have wonderful memories there of Eagles and Phillies games.

My first trip to the Vet was to see a Phillies game..I must have been 5 or 6 and the entire trip my mom said to cheer as loud as we could for the Phillies. My sister (who's 17 months younger) and I did...and got yelled at by another fan! We were crying and my mom got into it with her. Most of my memories were concerts there, the last being the Summer Sanitarium Tour with my daughter. I loved it! The only football game I saw there was a Temple Owls game a friend's stepdad brought us to--and we got to see the Monkees too!
