Defragmentation / myLot

How often should you defrag your PC. I usually do it about one every 6 months as I've been told it damages your hard drive if you do it too often. I'm usually active on my PC for about 6 - 8 hours per day. Any advice would be gratefully received.

i usually defragment once in a week.. i download atleast 15gb/month.. i havnt had any problems yet..

Thank you for your comment, I wouldn't have thought you need to do it so often, but then again I did post the discussion point so what do I know?
