I enjoy using my computer because it keeps me connected to a wide range of people from all over the world, it is surprising how very different people are, not only in food tastes but also in dress and traditions. I think computers succeed where books don't.

I would be absolutely lost without my computer, yes I definitely agree with you its fantastic that you can chat with people from around the world and find out about how other people live. I use my computer for research, for entering competitions and for contacting my friends.

I agree to some extent, I have learned a lot sisnce I have had my laptop and made some friends in places where their culture is rich and fascinating to me. My kids like the computer as it brings stuff to life with jiggling images, etc, it keeps them interested. I'd rather read a storybook as a book rather than online, cos I can snuggle up in bed with a book.

I have learnt much more since having the internet than I ever did in school, It does open your eyes to a lot of things. You can't beat cuddling up in bed with a book though, that is one thing the computer can't replace. :) Thank you for your response. :)

Yes, I enjoy using my computer too. I have made a whole bunch of new friends, whom I love to chat with on IM. They make my day, often. I have sat here and laughed with some of my friends until the tears rolled down my face, and as you say, they come from all corners of the globe. My longest-standing friend on here, is of 6 years duration. I met her in a Pogo Games Room, Poppit, which I know you're familiar with; a room called Heartbreak Hotel. We hit it off straight away and have never looked back, as with all my Pogo friends. That's a great site for bringing people together... I love the camaradery on there. Also, you have much information at the touch of a button on here. Something will crop up that you want the information on, and within seconds, you have that information in front of you... marvellous. The only down point is that I do miss out sometimes on things that are going on around me, but I soon get to catch up, when it's my night to go down the pub, or if I pop across the street to the Post Office. I would really miss my computer if I were to lose it for any reason.

That is one of the perks of meeting people online, they are from all walks of life and from many countrys, it is nice to be able to escape on the internet and find out about how other people live and from what countrys they come from, I would love to go to america, I met a lady a few years back from amarillo, texas, but we lost contact. I am sure that I will meet many more on mylot. :)

My first internet friend lives in Florida. lol. However, I did meet a couple whom I'd first spoken to in Pogo, one of those being in Huddersfield. I go up there to visit her frequently and we have a great time together. I met all her family, which is quite a large one, and we went out for a drink, a meal, shopping and did loads of stuff together. The other is in Oregon, and I went over there to visit for four weeks, a couple of years ago. I'm so glad I did... America is awesome, and the people are just great. It far outweighed my expectations. So, with my friend Sue nagging me to go to Florida to visit, I just might, one of these days.

I also enjoying using my computer I use the computer now adays more then I watch tv. I can get my local news by the internet. I can comunicate with others by the internet. Yes computers can even get your kids to reading more. I use to leave the close caption on, on my tv for this purpose. Then when I got a computer my son started using it also.

I also enjoy using my computer for the same reasons as you. It keeps you in touch with the rest of the world. And you are 100% right. Computers succeed where books don't. The computer has a major advantage over books. Computers require little work to be updated or changed completely in comparison with books. I still love to read books, but when I want to do some research, I always start at my pc. The computer allows you to have the most recent information and news at your fingertips no matter where in the world you are.

I still love to read books but I think that I personally would have learnt more at school if they had pcthan I ever did in a book. Although you can't beat being snuggled up in bed with a book. :) Thank you for your response.:)
