When do you start doing your taxes? I've started getting things together but haven't gotten my W2's yet so can't do them at this point. I think the earlier you turn them in the quicker you get your return. Have you all started on yours? If not when do you plan to do them?

If you do that there are service charges and sometimes a credit check so you don't always come out ahead. If you can, it is better to wait until you can file and then have it directly deposited in your account so you don't loose any of your refund.

Yeah, I'll pay for the software, but not for the other services like that.

always a good idea to start early when you have that many people to prepare them for.

I have decided to do my taxes online this year so I have started entering all the data. I just need the final few numbers and then I can file. For 2005 taxes I was with the same company all year so I had filed as soon as all of the forms were available. I wish I didn't have to wait this year.

I think the advantage is there are less to process so it comes quicker, most wait until later to file.

I have also started getting mine ready and I am still waiting on one W-2 so can not file until I get it. I have noticed that in the past years that I was able to file before Febuary, I would recieve my return real fast and if I waited until after Febuary to file, I would end up waiting a lot longer for my return. This year I have moved so getting them in real early does not look posotive for me.

I think a lot of employers wait longer to send W-2's as well.

yeah, I know online services are becoming much more popular for that exact reason.
