Why are Believers so Threatened by DaVinci Code?

First, it is a fiction novel. Second, if Jesus did get married, that does not mean he wasn't Jesus and still the Son of God!!! In fact, given the laws of the land at the time, the fact that even history documents that Jesus was a real person and was put to death although he had done nothing wrong, it is quite likely he was married as that was one of the requirements of men at that time - unless they professed celibacy and joined certain organizations - which Jesus did not do.
I am a Christian and this book does not threaten my beliefts at all. Getting married was not a sin, so why would it matter?
Also, everyone needs to remember that while the Bible is the word of God, it has been translated many times and edited by rulers to support their kingdoms and views. Also, while the Bible does not say that Jesus ever got married, it also does not say that he did not. It does say that he cared greatly for Mary. And, again taking into consideration the culture at the time, the apostles would not have thought it important to write about him getting married!!

I think you been currupted somewhat by this book but hey thats what these books try to do is try to currupt you. If he was Married he would have said so cause like you said it was an honor Jesus Was a pure man and not currupted by sin therefore he couldnt have married or even dated

Thank you for your response. But why would marriage have corrupted him? Marriage is not a sin. Marriage is sanctioned by God. And I did not say it was an honor, I said it was a requirement. Women were merely possessions in that time and culture, so his marriage would not have been noteworthy.
Also, I read the book to see why everyone was in an uproar. I do not agree with everything in the book, that is for sure. But am just wondering why the idea that Jesus was married seems to be the main thing people disagree with. Personally, being married does not bother me. What I do take exception to is that a cult group that focuses on illicit intimacy tries to tie themselves to Jesus. Wouldn't that be a better thing to publicly dispute than that Jesus may have followed the laws at the time (as the prophesy, the Bible, and history all say he did) and been married?

I do see your point. However, my faith is not so fragile. If my faith cannot stand up to challenges and overcome them, then it is not true faith! My faith is just as strong after reading the book to see why everyone was upset, as it was before. Jesus is my Saviour. No book or debate is ever going to change that.

If you are a mature Christian, your faith cannot be shaken by this Da Vinci Code.. Satan has been all possible ways to divert our faith in the Bible. I agree with you, if Jesus got married with Magdalene its not a sin and He will still a Son of God.
