how hard is it?

Living a righteous Christian life is so difficult. Many times, I have thought I had it licked. You know, all the fears and addictions etc at bay, and all of a sudden I just have a really bad day where sin comes right out of left field and makes me feel quite dirty before God. Am I the only one, or do others have this problem?

I think that God only reveals the sin to us that we are ready to deal with. As we grow in Christ, we start to feel as if we have it under control, then He so politely taps us on the shoulder and says, "How about this"? Sometimes its the same struggle we had before, but we did not entirely get it under the blood. I think that if we ever think we have "arrived" and all our sin is under control, that is when we laid down the cross and are no longer even trying. Perfection only comes with Heaven.

I think there are definitely areas in peoples' lives when they are more weak and prone to sin. I think these are the times when we need to cry out even moreso to God. But, you're definitely not alone in your situation. There are a lot of people that struggle. As the bumper sticker says, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven". I think that is true.

You are not alone in your struggle with sin. The only Christians who do not struggle with sin much are the luke warm Christians. They tend to get along with sin better, and one might question if they are even saved.
Our battle with sin, including the world, the flesh and the devil, is going to be part of our remaining time on earth. When the battle is tough, go to God's Word. We often need to be reminded of His love and power. We are weak, but He is strong and faithful. He is the Good Shepherd and He will take care of His sheep.
Keep the faith, it is normal to be discouraged at times. Keep looking forward and don't get stuck there. Pray and expect God to answer.
