I own and love Staffordshire Bull terriers they are NOT pitbulls but their seems to be confusion in identifying pitbulls because they are a xbreed I guess they can vary in standard. There is a lot of media attention at the moment because of the tragic incident down south. I have been told that pitbulls have been banned for 16 years so unless you own a pitbull over that age you are committing an offence. Is that correct?

I hate the way staffords are described as being terrible with kids, and not very nice dogs. They are in fact the opposite. it is how some of them are brought up.

hi phyllis i know what you mean about owning staffis, i have one and she wouldnt hurt a fly,but when im out with her and come across people who do not know the breed they are very suspicious and take a wide birth its such a shame to be treated in this way and embarrassing too.Sorry i dont know anything about the law.

Pitbulls are only banned in buildings with a certain type of home owners insurance. I think it's stupid to ban any dog. Rather than make a breed illegal, make people who want to own dogs - any type - take a simple test to ensure they can handle and properly raise the animal.
