I own and love Staffordshire Bull terriers they are NOT pitbulls but their seems to be confusion in identifying pitbulls because they are a xbreed I guess they can vary in standard.
There is a lot of media attention at the moment because of the tragic incident down south.
I have been told that pitbulls have been banned for 16 years so unless you own a pitbull over that age you are committing an offence. Is that correct?

hi phyllis i know what you mean about owning staffis, i have one and she wouldnt hurt a fly,but when im out with her and come across people who do not know the breed they are very suspicious and take a wide birth its such a shame to be treated in this way and embarrassing too.Sorry i dont know anything about the law.

Pitbulls are only banned in buildings with a certain type of home owners insurance.
I think it's stupid to ban any dog. Rather than make a breed illegal, make people who want to own dogs - any type - take a simple test to ensure they can handle and properly raise the animal.
