Do you find it funny that women can be mechanics? Do you find it sexy? Here's the situation, first off let me tell you that I come from a family full of mechanics (men and women). A friend of mine blew a head gasket on his car. Well I told him I would replace it for him because he had barely enough money to buy his parts and he needs his car for work. So Here I am working on it. I have it torn down And have done everything and I am putting the first head back on when another friend of ours came by the house. He thought it was so hilarious that there was three guys in the house and I was the one who was putting it together. I dont mind that he thought it was funny. I was just wondering what everyone elses thoughts were on this. Please tell me what you think of a woman that is mechanically inclined?

I think it's great that you can do this! I think that women should follow whatever path they feel that they will succeed in. I'm not certain of this, but I would assume that auto mechanics is largely knowing the mechanics of how the engine and other parts work- a woman can logically learn this as well as a man can. I don't believe that being "mechanically inclined" is a matter of gender. It's a matter of your exposure to learning situations and your interest in them; in your case, you grew up around mechanics and it is natural that you became adept at fixing cars. I wish that I could do more than simply start the car and drive... I'm hopeless when it comes to anything beyond that. A good mechanic is a great person to know, and I wouldn't care if it were a man or a woman. Actually, women tend to have a greater attention to details as a rule, so maybe I would even give my preferential edge to a female!

Thank you for your response. That is true that women naturally give more thought to detail than men. I also like to keep the tools cleaned and organized unlike my old man. I started helping my dad with cars when I was real young. He use to let me take of a hose or loosen a nut. I thought it was just the greatest thing.

I think its cool. Ha ha, though I think with the exception of the younger girls I'm the only one in the family who can't do something on a car. I gotta go to you or dad or rusty or russell or someone. Haha! Even kim knows about em. Even if it is just transmissions cause of bob carson. LoL! But its cool.

HaHa. Well I guess that happens sometimes. Besides when you start driving more you'll know how to fix them a little bit. Until then I guess we'll just help you.
