Ok, am I alone on this? I hate when someone's site puts music up for you. Put the music up with the option to CLICK if you want to listen to it but don't just assume people want to hear your music! I'm listening to my own stuff and constantly interrupted with their music!
It's not a matter of liking it or not liking it, it's a matter of not wanting it shoved into my ear while I'm surfing!!! UGH!

I join you in your frustration! I listen to my own music or watch tv while I'm surfing. I don't want random, unexpected music popping up while I'm already listening to something. People don't seem to think about things like that when they stick music up on their site. Especially when there's no option to turn it off.

Thank YOU! lol I thought I was alone. I mean, fine if you want to put music on as your way of expressing who you are but for GODS sake put it on with the option of whether or not the people viewing want to hear it!!!!!!!

Yes, I agree very much. It is annoying. There is one in particular that if this person is your friend, they put music in your comments (I'm not going to mention who because I don't want to start something) but I know I'm not going to make that person a friend if requested.

Sometimes it startles me when I come across one with music. I check out my pc to see if I have something else running that I forgot about. I feel that if they have music that they would like to invite you to listen to, not a problem. It is a problem when it blares out at you.

No you are not alone in this. I hate when sites have music that auto plays when I go to it. Now I normally have my speakers off because of this. I don't want to hear their stuff because most of the time it's either not something I like or it's a poor quality one. It also can really make the page open slow. Thankfully I don't have dial up anymore but some people don't think on how much it takes to load up a page like that. Let alone the bandwidth which if they are on a free host then that will eat up quick.

I also hate sites with music. I always listen to music when I am at the computer, and the music from the sites disturbs me a lot.

Different viewpoint here. Some of us, like me, are musicians. My site's player does have an off switch, but it is supposed to be part of the site, and part of the material, in my case.
It actually used to be etiquette not to put music on a site, with a coy bit of reasoning that some people might get sprung at work.
Even so, I can't stand the lousy muzak patches on some sites myself. They're just excruciatingly lousy.

I only mind it when it's not an "option" to listen to. And of course, in your case you are a musician so I'd expect to find music. It's kind of like if I were a cookie baker, you'd probably expect to find cookie pictures and recipes. But to just put it on and not allow anyone to stop listening to it is sooooo annoying. And I agree.. those stupid midi ones are enough to cause anyone to grab the nearest ball bat and beat yourself in the head! lol

I totally agree! It's very annyoing especially when you're listening to something you really like, then go onto a site with its own music, I sometimes get confused with it too and think that my media player's gone wonky. It would be much better to be able to choose whether we listen to it or not. I don't think it's too bad if it's fairly quiet music and it can be ignored, but when it suddenly blasts away that's not good at all. :)

this has only recently happened to me a couple of times. You are right it comes as a bit of a shock, cant really see the point of it, it seems to draw attention away from what im going on the site for and if ive inadvertantly left the volume up, it gives the rest of the family a shock too. Please stop doing it, lol

I also hate it. It makes my computer unsually slow. My computer is already slow and the loading of the pop up player makes it more slower, I couldn't even close it as it has to load all first before I can close the site.

I came across this last night when I went to check somebody's profile. My computer has a security camera with sound connected to it, so that I will hear if anybody is approaching my house. I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard the music as I thought somebody was outside my door with a radio. I don't like it and I would never impose my music on anybody.

Yes its really annoying, especially when you are startled not expecting it. There are some sites though that has an option where you can set it so that music will not start unless the play button is hit. I think that's wise so that people can choose to listen to the music in the site or not. Unfortunately I don't think a lot of people use that or a lot of people are aware of it, besides the only site I know that has that option is myspace. Another thing is the testimonials that incorporate music too some does not have any control and if there are several testimonials that contains music the music all play together and there you got an earsore (corruption of eyesore).

The only thing that bothers me about sites with music is the type of music that they play. Some kinds of music I do not mind listening to while surfing the net. I think people are getting carried away with what they put on their sites, both music, videos or pictures. You should be given an option to listen to it or not listen to it.

I kind of enjoy music in websites as long as they're not rock and roll. I prefer soft ones though. It's better to hear. Although I agree with you when it interrupts something that you;re doing.

I like the sites with music. There is the option to turn it off if you don't wantto listlen to it (in most cases). If you don't like the music turn your volume down or just stop the music from playing.
