its just that kids are like sponges that can easily absorb all things they seen with adults. they tought it was the right way of choosing words, and swewaring as an expression. its really not good for adults to swear or do bad things in front of the children, because they will tought its good because what they do, they all learn that from the adults.

I agree bubblepink, but I would drop the "in front of the children". If they control their tongue in front of the childre, why not ALL the time?

They hear it too much in the community, standards are falling. Adults need to get their act together and be more responsible. It should be dropped from everyone's language. It is the language of the uncouth and the violent

Nice reply, but swearing is an everyday occurance these days you would think it is part of the dictionary the way the teenagers talk these days.

I think young swear more today because they hear more now. I mean even the cartoons swear, I mean look at South Park. Also the parents are more tolerant of their kids swearing. When I was I would get slapped in the mouth for saying shoot.

well it all got to do with the enviroment surrounding the kids..may be not exactly the home enviroment but the school, college, locaility etc all play an improtant part...moreover televisioin, cinema....also influence kids..........they nowadays think it cool to abuse or even dress like their elders or favorite stars......they may not even know the meaning but i guess the just enjoy the sound of the words been spoken from their mouths

"for f**ks sake".... That's incredible, for years and years I wondered how English people swear and no one could ever told me.... and now.... I can learn it on myLot... eh eh eh eh.... Ok, as I am not Christian I don't swear, I don't believe in God, Christ and Madonna, so I never pronounce their names.... in my country many people swear, but not my child. He knows I am not Christian, but he likes to go to church and he would be very sorry if someone sweared in front of him. So, my child never swore, but I don't care if I hear someone swearing. I don't care at all.

I have the same problem as you with my daughter i dont know where she is getting it from but she is 3 years old and tells me to f*ck off and i am getting angry. I have put her to her bed i have tried everything to no provale, i really cant see anything else to do. To be honest it is partly my fault as she must hear me swearing sometimes but at that age you dont think. I think they are getting alot of it from the TV these days to there is that much swearing i am suprised tinky winky is not going about cursing.

When I was growing up, it was pretty common to swear and hear other kids on the playground swearing. I'm pretty sure it started at a fairly young age, too. Younger than 8 or 9, but that was so long ago, I don't really remember! But I remember such words were used.

Children are copiers. Children hear this every day from others, young and old, as well as on the TV and in their "music". Children need an example to follow in the home. If they are corrected the right way and set an example, the chance of their using such language will at least be minimised. If swearing is part of the home life (from people or TV) it will be part of their lives.

I would have a talk with your parents and let them act on it if they will. Tambdy, please stop cussing in front of the young ones if they are old enough tosay mama, or dada, they are old enough to mimic your every word. When my then 2 yr old sat in the floor sing that one word sing song little ones do, only this one was named "sh$%", I stopped cussing in front of her and now I do not cuss (except for a very rare slip.LOL)

I think it's more like why do adults like to swear in front of the kids. The adults are the ones teaching them. Else, they won't even be swearing.

kids swear because that's what adults do... so i advice the parents out there to please teach your kids some manner to avoid offending people and embarassing your families.. and also, adults should live by their rules..
