to the fast developing countries, its acceptable and sometimes convinient. a question of genuine and liable proof is of question in other countries still not accepting degrees from web. other countries still dont accept this and rather prefer the universities of genuine real life attendance of transcript of records.
do you think its better to have children or any of us attend our school online? is it safe? is it acceptable to you or to your society?... how relable can it give us?

I am the single mother of 2 boys ages 11 and 14. Three years ago my children begged me to remove them from the public school system and finish their education at home. What has happened over the past 3 years is that we have moved from a homeschool cirriculum to an online school. The world is not what it was 15 or 20 years ago. This is the age of information and the internet. We can complete course work in less than 4 hours a day giving us the opportunity to follow other paths of interest.
To "attend" a regular college is becomming very expensive...almost out of reach for many people. Online course work is a great alternative. Besides, many of most wealthy people in the United States were not college grads. A college degree is no longer the golden ticket it once was. I know to many people that went to college for 4 or 5 years only to graduate and go to work in some completely unrelated field.
Many people abide by the idea that a college degree will open the door for you. I believe you open the door for yourself thru your willingness to learn what is necessary to do something you love.

i do not think for quality education you can depend on the web, but for general knowledge and updating your knowledge it is a good source.

I think online education is wonderful for people who don't have the time to actually go to a four year college or something like that. It allows you to go at your own pace and complete assignments when you can. I had a partial online course while in college and it was wonderful.

when we are talking about the online schools or degree and anything that relates to online education we are thinking, pointing and emphasizing about the quality of it. It is genuine?
well, let me share my experience on online education. now on i'm in a university in my country, i have a subject of networking. and there is a world wide online academy calls as CISCO. the academy is all about networking. my university did take a wise action by combining the ccna (cisco moduls) and the subject of networking.
we are still have to go to class to attend lecturers and doing some labs. when we are taking assesment we are going to take it online in the cisco website besides in order to grade in that subject we also do writing exams. well, when we are taking the subject of networking we are getting double certification. one from our own university and the other one is from cisco.
my view is i do agree with online education if it goes like that. but i'm going to say no on plain online education cuz i did see many offers about online education claiming that we could hold our degree in just 6 months or just like 1 year and half. that's really out of sense

its not at all reliable, online education can never replace class room teaching. the degrees offered are not up to the perfect gradation. we cannot be comfortable with teachers who are far away from us and that what makes a difference.

I am not sure. I have seen that children who are homeschooled (but not necessarily schooled online) seem to be much more highly educated and intelligent than a lot of public school kids around my area. I think that online schooling could be much the same. The problem is, you must also get these kids out into social situations. I myself went to public schools and still ended up far too shy. I think that if I had been socialized more than I was when Iw as very young that it might have helped. So it worries me a bit, that kids who are schooled online might not get the socialization that they need. But there are always activities that you can get them involved in where they can meet other people their age! ^_^

well what eer may happen but i dnt think the conventional educatino system can be overtaken by online education. it is better to go to school and study there cause it not only makes you an educated human being. but also teaches you many values and also how to mix with different people. make friends and many more.

I don't believe we can learn online as much as we learn in a real school.

My younger sister was homeschooled for a while and used the online Schoolhouse. I have to say that at first I thought that it was a waste of time and a bad idea. But I realized, when she started asking for help with her homework, that they were coving much more difficult ground than I covered in all four years on high school and she was only in eighth grade. She has attended a private school for the past two years and is usually way above the course work for her class because of the education she had online.
I still have my drawbacks about online schooling because I think that children and teens miss out on a lot of social interaction that is as important as the course in some respects. High School is where you start learning to interact with people in an adult manner. However, there are some online schools that offer in town courses such as art, where some of the students can get together, meet, and make friendships.
It's not for everyone, but I do believe that online schooling is a very good alternative for nontraditional students and families.

I feel that online/distant education is very reliable for many people....I'm not exactly sure about other countries. Our society nowadays is time-driven. 'Don't have time do this', 'only have time for that', 'if only I had enough time.' I have to work overtime.' I'll finish it if I have time.' I think that our society would benefit with the opportunity to get schooling done online. More than ever before. Currently I take online courses. I have 3 kids and I live in Germany, and we live in a remote area. Though our Education Center offers college courses in the classroom, the class options are extremely limited, so therefore online classes work for me. Not only that, online courses are flexible for a busy schedule. Parents, people who work all hours but don't have time to go to a college, and/or would rather be at home could take advantage. Beware: Colleges are not self-paced, and self-discipline is a must. If you can commit a couple hours every day and you have the internet at home, and online works best for your schedule (you don't have to be online at a specific time, it's really flexible and you stay proactive on the online discussions) I think it's reliable and acceptable. I personally think that students right out of high school attending college should get that hands on life experience by going to an actual college, as that will prepare them socially and professionally down the road (and get them out of your house.)=) However, I do not agree with colleges that let you 'pay' for a degree, or the acclerated programs that earn your Business degree in 7-9 months. I'm sure there may be some legit programs as well as scams out there, but I believe in good old-fashioned 2,4,6 or more year study in the field you want to major/minor in.
An added note, I've been taking online courses since 2004, with University of Maryland, and my GPA is 3.21. It can be done.=)
