Could be anything from an animal, a god, a muse, anyone, anything from any myth?
For me it's Pan, the little flute playin half human. His beliefs, woes, purpose and hopes are all shared very close with myself... and for such a "little player" in the grand scheme of things his music/message was of great concern for existence.....and touched the gods and humans alike...plus he plays a MEAN flute!...we jam all the time!...LOL!

Mythological? Are you kidding? I am still trying to get myself to believe enough to be able to see or have a House Brownie.
People often associate a House Brownie with a faerie.
But a Brownie is not a faerie. A Brownie is a little person that only one with a whimsical mind can see and yes, they too are magickal. Their life is cleaning houses. But for the payment of a saucer or milk. Just a bowl of milk...and it must be whole milk because they believe anything less, the life is sucked out of the milk. LOL
They may play too much at times and even ride the dog like a hourse...hence, upsetting the dog. But you can set ground rules at the time of said employment. But beware...never forget to leave the bowl of milk out for payment. Otherwise, you will not believe the mess and trouble they will make!
So, if I keep repeating...I believe I believe. Maybe a Brownie will one day show up at my doorstep needing employment. :)

My favourite mythological character is Bhisma from Mahabharata. I like him for the following reasons-
1- He was one of the greatest warrior ever in the history of mankind. He is the only person to defeat "Parashurama" dev" in one to one combat.
2- He was a very noble person and took the "Bheesan"(shocking) "pratigya"(vow).
For our foreign friends who dont know abot Mahabharata I like Chiron from the Greek epic,Illiad by Homer. He was a centaur: a great teacher, a wise person(very unlike the centaurs) and he sacrificed his life to save others.

Definately Kali Ma the Dark Goddess...She is the goddess of creation and destruction as well as the protector of mothers and children...
Kokopelli who is usually considered a fertility god (but is also a healer and symbolizes creation/change, happiness and the pure and spiritual side of music)...oddly enough though ppl tend to view fertility only in the sense of childbirth but for me he represents creation of all kinds and how we should embrace them, nurture them and play music/dance celebrating the happiness the birth of something new brings...

Oh so many to choose from, there were many characters. I do like Pan and all he was capable of doing. Kassandra who was cursed with knowing the future but having no one believe her. That had to be most difficult. Arachne who was changed into the spider...there are so many characters and that isn't including the Gods/Goddesses or the creatures. Persus and Jason of the Argonauts were both classic heros and accomplished so much.
I guess if I only have to pick one I would pick Kassandra. She had stregnth, courage and conviction and was able to continue on with everything even when faced with humilitation, scorn and doubt.

My favorite character from mythology is Orion, the hunter. I didn't know much about him until I ended my last relationship.
I was feeling pretty lonely and very sad over it at the time. I was driving an executive coach at the time and was often on the road in the early pre-dawn hours of the morning.
I found myself talking to the constellation Orion in the southern sky as I was driving up to South Lake Tahoe, conversing with him. I would share my woes and depression with him and he listened and never judge me. I did a lot of research about him after I started talking to him and learned that he was more human than he wanted to be, though he was half god, half titan. Anyway.... Orion... my counsellor in the stars... he's my favorite.

My favorite mythological character is Adamaster. I cannot described it with justice so I going to cut and paste from the Wikipedia. I think you will find it interesting.
Adamastor is a Greek-type mythological character invented by the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões in his epic poem Os Lusíadas (first printed in 1572), as a symbol of the forces of nature Portuguese navigators had to overcome during their discoveries. Camões gave his creation a history as one of the Gigantes of Greek mythology who had been spurned by Thetis, now appearing in the form of a threatening stormcloud to Vasco da Gama and threatening ruin to anyone hardy enough to pass the Cape and penetrate the Indian Ocean, which was Adamaster's domain.
Adamastor became the Spirit of the Cape, a hideous phantom of unearthly pallor:
"Even as I spoke, an immense shape
Materialised in the night air,
Grotesque and enormous stature
With heavy jowls, and an unkempt beard
Scowling from shrunken, hollow eyes
Its complexion earthy and pale,
Its hair grizzled and matted with clay,
Its mouth coal black, teeth yellow with decay.
—Camões, The Lusiads Canto V.
Adamastor represented the dangers Portuguese sailors faced when trying to round the Cape of Storms, henceforth called, in consequence of the resultant success in despite thereof, Cape of Good Hope.

LOL! You start such awesome topics ^_^ Pan is a great example. I personally love dragons. But I'm fascinated by all mythical creatures, and I love Greek mythology and reading about the Greek and Norse Gods. All of those stories keep me entertained for hours ^_^

Ah, mythology .. one of my favorite topics. It's hard to choose just one, but for an overall favorite, I'll have to go with the phoenix. Something about the beauty of it being reborn from it's own ashes, I suppose. I've also always loved the legends behind the unicorns, with their magical touch. And of course, dragons ... who doesn't love dragons?
In terms of gods and godesses, the egyptian god Isis, being the female power in those times, has always interested me as well. :)

I would have to say that my favorite mythological creature would be a dragon. I always imagined, when I was little, that I had a dragon of my very own. We would fly over the land going fast and making nerve racking dives, just to pull out of them at the last moment. For me, dragons aren't just beautiful, but they are magical too. I have a tattoo of a dragon on my right arm and he is facing my back. The way I interpret that is, he is watching my back.

Zeus King of the gods. God of air, thunder and lightning. Brother of Poseidon and Hades. Destroyed his father who was a titan. Loves women and cheats on Hera very much in mythology. Don't like the last part much but hey, he's a baaaad dude! LOL

Mermaids... well, it's inspiring and it's still a wonder whether they really exist. Are manatees really mistaken as mermaids??? Old seafarers' tales may be highly exaggerated but well... it is still food for thought. It would be nice it they do exist, a whole other world under the sea.
