Its easy to make the argument that someone shouldn't enjoy life or create if there are other people starving in the world. Just think of how spending a lot of money on a movie impacts: It creates thousands of jobs. We tend to think of just the actors and the directors. There are accountants, caterers, artists, technicians, and costume designers. If you want to argue that those are elite jobs...what about the person in the back prepping items for the caterer, the person who photocopies and distributes the scripts for the day, the secretary that does the bookings? Then a local economy is impacted when a movie producer decides to use a building or a town for a location.
Also, in addition, sometimes the subject matter of view of the movie has an impact on the world. It may help a family bond over the experience. Or sometimes movies make us aware of the plight of others too far away for us to normally notice.
