which one is better for gaming?a pc or a game console?

Nowadays we can see there is a lot of hot discussions going on about three game consoles, microsoft xbox 360,sony ps3 and nintendo wii.PC gaming systems are also not lagging behind with launch of dx 10 capable geforce 8800 gtx.Which will be a smarter choice?A console or a gaming pc???
