I am sure most of us have at one time or another. Since I now dispatch for a Cab Company I have about seen all when it comes to Cabs and people's attitudes, etc. What have been some Good Experiences, or Bad experiences you have had when it comes to dealing with riding in a Cab? Would Love to hear some of these.

Honestly i havent taken a Taxi in mabe 6 months or so, But i use to get them all the time when i was working long hours and had no car. Some of them were really friendly and because i was a regular they would turn the meter off before we actually arrived at my home, Where as others were obviously having a bad day and were grumpy and ignorant and pigheaded.

Yes, they do serve their purpose at times do they not. I know their are times you do not really have a choice like when without a car or traveling. And I have found no matter where you are, or who they are, you will often find all kinds.

My husband is a cab driver, so I take them on a regular basis, since it's just much easier to grab one and charge it to our account. You're a dispatcher, you have my sympathies, lol. Seems like the dispatchers are the ones who have to deal with the biggest messes, and get blamed if anything goes wrong. I've seen how hard the dispatchers at hubby's work have to work to keep everything organized, and I wish you the best of luck. :)

Being a dispatcher at times can be quite interesting to say the least. Especially with some of the rude people that call demanding a cab, or have lost something and expect everything done now. What makes it worse is when cab drivers are continuously rolling their meter to where you have to keep on dispatching a new cab and you start feeling almost Sorry for the caller, and wonder why the drivers are being like this.

Last time I rode in a cab was about 14 years ago. We went to Canada for a road trip and the car broke down. We got a taxi to try and get the parts and tools to fix it and I thought we were going to be killed. The guy was a maniac, I was white-knuckled the whole time. Cabs are expensive, and I have never lived downtown, so I don't ofter have occasion to use them.

Yes, cabs can be quite an expensive way to travel and often not the best way to travel all the time. And some of the cab drivers do not always want to drive the best as well. So anytime you can avoid one, you might be better off.

Yes, most of the time even while we are traveling, we are known most times to rent a car instead of taking a cab somewhere. But from time to time I have had to take a cab and been lucky most of the time.

Yes, there are some really Good cab drivers out there that will return things without and questions. I once left my Tablet in the Cab and the driver called me asking when my husband would be home so he could return it. Never has asked for anything in return so there are some Good ones around.

Yes, I have heard many interesting stories from Cab drivers over the years about when they have picked up someone who had been drinking. The problem often comes a few days later when someone calls and says they might have left something in the cab, and cannot tell you the Cab number, where they were picked up etc, and then wonder how come no one can tell them if they have their items or not.

That is good if you only have to call for a cab maybe once and have a Good experience with them. This helps make the company look better. I know we get phone calls from time to time from customers with good experiences so it really helps make someones day.

I do have to take them to get around with my son at times. Whatever the cost is i always tp to the nearest next dollar-eg $2.20, i give $3, etc. They are always lovely as soon as that tip is in their hand.I usually do it to get some help with my son.As soon as they see im tipping them, if they're being mean, nasty or just plain arrogant, they seem abit more cheerier.

my bad expereince is i got into a cab that cheat on the meter. I could easily know if the meter is cheating, the bill is running fast even its not yet on the set time. I mean i know my bill when i ride on the good cab because i ride everyday so once i encounter this cheater cab i really have to be rude. Will i pay him the right bill and tell him not to do it again to others or else i will report him to the authorities and i write down the plate number. It sad to know that there are people like these working and cheat other people just to earn money.

It is true. We see it all the time. There will always be good drivers and bad drivers. Especially when the cab trip is the same distance all the time. You have ones trying to even go the long way just to get the extra fare. But personally it really should be up to everyone to provide good customer service so that everyone will be impressed with their good service.

I usually drive everywhere or rent a car. I had to take a cab a couple months ago and it will be the last for awhile if not forever. I only had to travel about 2 1/2 miles and it was 5:30 in the morning so there was no traffic but the fare was $15.00! No more Cabs for me.

Wow, 2 1/2 miles only and it was $15.00? That is quite expensive. Here it would right around $10 probably. Sorry to hear of this experience.

I live in an average sized town (30,000 people) so we don't have cabs that most people use. When I have taken them I notice that they cost a ton, they seem to take the long way everywhere, and their estimate is usually way off. I'd say this is only true in the U.S.; however. For example, I was recently in Europe and had some good experiences: In Belfast, the bus fair to the airport for my dad and I was 5 pounds and it would take a while and involve tranfers. The cab driver said it'd cost about 10 pounds - it ended up costing 7 and change. In Lisbon I had a similar experience. The bus fair to the airport was 3.5 euro per person (there were two of us) and the cab driver guessed 7 euro for the trip (it took about 20 minutes so it was somewhat far). It ended up costing less than 6.50 euro which was less than the bus. In short, the U.S. needs to copy the European transportation system because they do a great job.

Well, it probably does depend even in the US where you are at, and where you are going. It also depends on the time of day as in traffic wise as well. I know since I am a dispatcher for a Cab company it can vary by a lot of factors, but the main thing is time of day and traffic. But when you have a Good experience it is always well worth sharing it with others.

No good experience as we hire cab from street and use for short distance only. In our country some cab drivers are not bad they return goods if anyone leave it on seat and forget to take it.

Some interesting thoughts here. Here in the US at least where I live, it can be expensive if you leave something in the Cab for them to bring it back to you. It would be cheaper to go to the office yourself and get it.

Taking a taxi cab is something that I seldom do as we live in the country but a few years ago we were in the city for a reunion and rather than drive the cars we decided to take a taxi. So after waiting for half an hour after the booking time, the taxi finally arrived and had no idea where to go. Eventually we got there but not very happy as we had a scenic tour of Sydney which we didn't want and one of the passengers (4 in total) had to get the street map out and direct the driver where to go. At the end of the night we ordered another taxi and it arrived in about 10 minutes. Told the driver where we wanted to go and no problems at all. Took us straight there and cost us half what it had on the way to the function. In actualy fact it should have been more on the way home because it was after midnight. They were the best and worst experiences and the few others were in between.

I hear stories all the time about Taxi's getting lost. I know it can be hard especially when one of the Drivers is Newer and may not know the area. But they can be Good experiences as well.

I regularly use a cab to travel home from work. I finish work at 10 PM, and since I live just over a mile away it is cheap enough to use a cab and not worth walking at that time of day. The firm that I use is very reliable, so it is rare that I have long to wait, and if the cabs are all busy they are usually honest enough to tell me there will be a delay. The good experience for me is actually making friends among the cab drivers.

This is a Good reason to take a Cab. I know when I used to work close to home, I took one almost all the time as well, and it was a Great experience.

I have only ridden in a cab a couple of times in my life and can say that I never had a bad experience or a really good experience that stands out. The cab driver got me to and from the places I needed to be and on time. I am sure some of them probably drive a little slower to make some extra money or they get lost on purpose. If I had to take a cab sometime, I would do it as long as it was not a real long drive.

Well, sometimes I am not sure if a Cab driver tends to get lost on purpose or maybe they just are not sure of where to go. But you should hear some of the stories and complaints that come thru from time to time since I do dispatch for a Cab company. I cannot believe some of the Cab drivers.

I try not to take a cab, simply because they are just to expensive. If I have a choice I will take a bus, however about 3 mos. ago my car was in the shop and I had to take an out of state trip. After arriving I discovered that the buses stopped running on Sun. after about 7pm so I had to take a cab. During the ride I felt as though my drivers was taking the long route to the hotel. And you guessed it, later I found out that he had. I really can't think of a pleasant experience, most cabby's are out there to make as much money as they can and if you don't know the best routes to your destination they will take advantage of you...SS

Well, it is Sad when there are Drivers like this, and my experience now since I am a Dispatcher for a Cab company, I hear of this happening quite a bit. The thing I have learned is that I will never hesitate now calling in to the Cab company themselves and make a complaint where needed if I feel I did not get the best of services. Sometimes they feel if no one takes time to complain about their practices than if someone is from out of town, take advantage, and no one will really notice.

Well,i had good experiences with all the cab services i had taken.I do consider that as a lucky thing.I never had any people attitude so far with the cab services.People were friendly but i do agree that its mostly business minded.I have also been selective with ca services i have hired.I have not hired random.I usually stick to a few and is comfortable with them. There were times at which cab drivers would drive and take initiative to find places .They have also picked up at times which are too early. But i guess its their job to pick at any time. Also then they have also helped with the luggage and at times, waited for a few odd minutes for me.At times, they have also given feedback on the places and the different services available. Thus, its been a happy thing with the cab drivers. But i am also cautious with all including ones i am familiar. We can never take it easy with anyone unless we know them completely. Thanks!
