Ethanol is being used as an automible fule by blending it with petrol or diesel.
different proportions are being used like 10/90, 20/80, 30/70.
normally it is known as E80 or E85
mean Ethanol is 2o% or 15% respectively
Alone in USA there are about 2 Millions cars which are running on this fuel
Brazil is leader in developing and retrofitting the engines for this new fuel
if ethanol alone is used, it creates some knocking problem in engine
it is also known as Green fuel as emission of pollutant is very low in case of ethanol as compared to Petrol or diesel
have you people ever expereinced this new fuel
do share please

ethanol destroys you engine
it does not lubricte the engine properly therefore there is more metal to metal contact
instead of you engine lasting say 500,000km it wil last about 280,000km
you way-up the cost and work out if it is cheaper or even better
angine lasting less time means more waste, more polution to make more parts or any petrol station selling ethanol in petrol in australia is charges with tampering with their product and the public can also sue if it is found that ethonal helped to destoy an engine

The issue of non-automotive engine durability while operating on ethanol gasoline blend fuels beyond 10% ethanol is not adequately addressed by available literature. In the United States, post-1988 fuel-injected cars are designed to accept E10 fuel, and may be tolerant of higher concentrations of ethanol to varying degrees, usually up to at least 20%.
I think its safe to say, that if you use fuel containing 10% ethanol your car will safe from any significant damage. Hopefully the motor industry will keep up with the developments in ethanol fuel, for although huge concern is out there regarding the engine damage, I think we cannot continue using only gasoline fuel. Our environment and planet as a whole requires drastic changes in the way we contribute to global warming and environmentla pollution.

I dont know whether I am using ethanol mixed petrol or not? I think in India we are using E20 as mensioned by you but I have to check it with the petrol pump owner. Definetly the Ethanol blended fuel is good for environment but is is good for Engines helth too?
