Getting Rid of A Very Stubborn Infection

About 2 years ago, my dad had surgery on his back. About the time his incision was healed, an infection that he was unaware of basically just 'exploded' out of the incision site. He has been fighting major infections, pain and disability ever since, all because he went ahead with a surgery that was supposed to make him in less pain from back problems!!! He later found out that the surgeon had good indication that he had an infection post surgery, but didnt bother to disclose to him or his general doctor... Why, we dont know. He has been in extreme pain almost constantly, his body's a mess, he's been in the hospital twice - 1st time, he probably should have been dead... And he is on a pic line for antibiotics for the 2nd time in less than a year. At one time he had three different infections in his blood stream. Does anyone know anything about riding extreme infection completely from the body? Everytime it seems to be gone, before long it pops up again, and it's just awful. He's slowly losing hope, and docs keep telling him that he'll probably be dealing with it for the rest of his life... He's not even 60 yet... Any info would be appreciated!

He should really seek medical attention. There are lots of doctors out there, he shouldn't stop looking until he finds the one that will really help him.
