You bet I would. As long as they don't
demand it. I am a right leg amputee and
would still give my seat up to an elder.

Although I consider my self to be elderly, I would still give up my seat to another elderly person or a person with a young child. I think it is disgraceful watching young children sitting down, stuffing their faces with seats while elderly people are struggling to stand.

Oh gosh, yes! I agree that it's the polite thing to do. I can remember when I was VERY pregnant with my first child and I was on the subway. It was so hot, early June, and I was feeling really unwell. Not a single person offered their seat.
A lot of people will avert their eyes (or pretend to sleep) so as not to make eye contact with the elderly or differently-abled. I guess, that way, they don't feel "obligated" to get up or "guilty" when they don't. I don't know when we became such an uncaring society.

I gave up my seat to an elderly woman when my five year old son and I were waiting for a table in a busy restaraunt. I think it is the right thing to do, and I want my son to show respect and consideration for elders.

I do. Some older people are really rude though and expect that they should be at the front of lines, have seats, etc. But most times if they need a seat I would give them one. Also do it for heavily pregnant mums as Know how uncomfortable they get standing

Well despite the fact that I'm knocking on a bit myself, yes I would do, particularly elderly ladies, in fact the gentlemanly thing would be for any lady irrespective of her age.
It is nice to know that there are still some people around that have decent manners and are willing to stand by them (no pun intended). I wonder in this day and age, certainly in my country, where all the respect has gone for others, i see it in schools where the kids have no respect for the teachers, and unfortunately there is no way for the teachers to gain the respect that they deserve. There is no wonder the country is getting into the state it is, noone has respect for the people that matter.

Yes, I would. It's the polite and respectful thing to do. This is another problem with the majority of teenagers these days; they don't have respect for the elderly or the handicapped. We were brought up to be polite and respectful to those who were handicapped and frail.

I always did that and I will still do it again. I also do it for pregant woman.
They made a test the other at tv with a pregant woman and only one person in all the ride give her a seat. People are so selfish these days

Yes, I absolutely would. I was taught to respect my elders, and I would feel awful if I was sitting and they were standing.

Yeah, that would be the best thing to do. I always try to do that, but I agree, sometimes when I am so tired and worn out, I don't get up. I do regret about it later, I know I need to change. The best part is that, when you get up, the happiness and recognition in their face is simply unexplicable. Also, at times I got blessings and wishes from them. That was really touching, I know that has helped me.

I have always offerred my seat to someone who was elderly whether it is a man or woman, that is the way I was raised. Also, if I see a woman pregnant or someone disabled I also offer them my seat.
