I am looking for the value of this saddle my daughter has. She was told it was handmade and it is stamped US Cavalry and the product name is Dunn and was made in San Antonio, TX or is there a town named San Angelos, TX?

From what your describing, I'm assuming that this saddle is an antique, because the US Horse Calvalry hasn't had any combat duty since the turn of the 20th century. I'm wondering if the saddle has a full seat, or is an "open" seat, meaning is there a hole in the middle of the saddle seat. The full seat saddles were commonly used by officers of the US Calvalry, while the open seat saddles, being cheaper to make, were for the enlisted men. An officer's saddle would be considered more valuable, considerably more so if the history of the saddle is known (i.e. officer's name, unit, military campaigns participated in, etc.). There are groups who collect these types of tack, and value is mainly based upon what the collector is willing to pay for it versus what the owner is willing to sell it for. Although I do not collect such things myself, I have not heard of these types of saddles selling for over $1000 (USD).
