Can you be friends wiht exes?

I have a friend who tries to maintain a friendship with her ex husband. The problem is that whenever she tells her ex mother in law anyting, the mother in law blabs it all over town basically. Then it causes a riff between my friend and her ex husband. Is this normal and do you believe that you can be friends with an ex ? why or why not ?

i think it depends on both person. If the break-ups is not about cheating maybe i could make friends. And also depends on the person on how they see things and accept things. Maybe your friend has a very positive outlook but the mother in law has also different outlooks so it will really have the conflict.
