I have often wondered this myself. I think they are genetically predisposed to it. I also think they tend to have a quite healthy diet, with rice, fish, and lots of vegetables.

It actually depends what you eat most of the time. I eat little to no animal protein. I consume a whole lot of vegetables, fruit, tofu, nuts, rice and other grains. I do enjoy a cookie or two sometimes, but I don't consume dairy (it hurts my stomach).

Well incase you are referring to the chinese when you are saying asians, I think the secret lies in three things.
1. They walk alot; instead of going from one place to the other in cars etc they prefer to walk
2. They ride bycycles alot and every one knows that cycling is a great exercise
3. They always have warm water to drink. You know like more of the people else where in the World have cold or chilled water, asians always have hot / warm water.
I hope my response was useful to you in some way :)

LOL I wish I knew. I have always been thin my whole life. It was pretty easy to lose all my pregnancy weight after I had my son. I lost all but 4 pounds after only 5 weeks or so... Then after that, my hips took the longest to go back to where they were.

The first clue is their food portions. Compare an average American meal with an average Asian meal and you will have quite a difference. They do not eat nearly as much as we do. Also most Americans have a car - in the more populated Asian countries most people do not own a car - but rather walk or bike.

I think it is mostly because they have a hard life. Economic prosperity has not yet made their lives easy. So quite often they are starved for even food. And the 'luxuries' of life - easy transport which is affordable, vehicles of their own, tv, etc are not available to all of them.
There may be some genetic differences, but I doubt it. Human life is changing very fast and in the affluent Indian class, obesity and its attendant ills are already very prevalent.

I think they eat healthier food than we do, and I think they probably moderate their portions better than us.
