I do, I have no idea what to say when complemented. Don't get me wrong, I love love a good complement. Can anyone help? Are you one who gives them and what do you like to hear in return?

When somebody showers me with a compliment I simply say 'Thank you!' and mean it in a genuine way. When I give a compliment to somebody, it is sincere, not just 'lip service.' I've met some people that act like they don't feel worthy of the compliment when given one. That's so sad! Someone in my family once said that to brush off a compliment is rude to the person who gave it to you. If you've ever given a compliment to somebody and they brushed it off, or made light of it, then you know what I am trying to say! Most people don't give compliments for no reason, although I'm sure there are a few. Just accept comments and compliments with grace and don't be shy about it. Be glad somebody said something positive!

Great response, I like it, have thought many times and your response is always the one I give, but still get shy, its nice when someone says something good about you.

I have a hard time complimenting people out loud. I could think of a ton of things to say in my head, but when I go to say it they all sound corny. When I get complimented I smile and say thanks and that's what my friends do too.

I know what you mean, I generaly give a similar response, but sometimes words don't come out, or I haven't thought about what to say back so I get lost for words. Then there are times I have thought about it a little and I leave the complimentor complimented in an oozeing puddle on the ground..

I feel uncomfortable giving and recieving in all honesty. If I have to make a concious effort to give a compliment I'll generally avoid it.

Maybe if we can leave a little space in our heads to give a compliments then we may recieve better in return.

I don't know what to say either, as I did not get a lot of compliments when I was younger. I find it very difficult to know what to say when someone says - your hair looks nice today, or something along those lines.

When I give a complement, I usually say it in a way that makes them feel good without any one else knowing, ir in a way that they go 'Oh he was giving me a comp' but thats that night when they're going to sleep...

Generally, all I want to hear is, "Thank you." I have a hard time, too. Because if I sound like I appreciate the compliment, that sounds like I'm conceited (full of myself) I feel like. So sometimes I say, "It was nothing." But then people start to argue with me. So I just say, "Thanks," and change the subject. Sometimes people give sarcastic compliments, ones they don't mean just to see if I'll say something so they can act like I'm stupid, "She thought that was a compliment." But I seldom compliment people in real life, so they know I mean it. Here, I compliment people because I appreciate their response(s). So I mean it positively. So just answer simply.
